6 wins are still gonna be hard to achieve...

You gotta assume we can beat Charlotte which gets us to 4 then you have to beat 2 of Bama,South Carolina,Missouri,Vandy, and Kentucky.

Is it possible?

Yes but not gonna be easy.

Well freakin’ A Sweet Daddy....We got a much better chance after today’s win with the confidence this gives the Vols. If Helton will run more PAF, mix up his first down play calls and hum that ball downfield, we in bizness!

If Bama doesn't knock the wind out of them and they can retain their confidence and continue to improve, I don't think its out of the question to win out after them. But, who knows what happens with Bama? I wish we had already played them.
Best thing would be a close game with Bama.

Chances got better after yesterday. This team has a ceiling, everyone needs to realize that. 4 of those 5 SEC games will be dog fights. The other might take devine intervention to win, i'd take it though.

Yesterday was a great win that could give us the momentum needed to reach a bowl game, but I still think this is a 5-7 or 6-6 team.

We will have to have luck in the injury dept to acheive 6 wins

I agree getting three more will be tough. Great win yesterday. Auburn offensive line looks awful, probably worse than ours did at the beginning of the year. Our d has gotten better but Stitum was running for his life all night. Maybe our plan was so good that they were confused but something is wrong in Auburn. Our offense looked better than it has. It actually looked like they are buying in. Our Oline looked pretty good on protection.

All the games left are possible wins except Alabama. I think we can put up points on Vandy. Missouri, and Charlotte. Missouri is usually a team that can put up points so we have to be great on defense in that game. SC is a game that will probably be low scoring decided by turnovers. Kentucky hard to say they definitely have a better defense this season so another game probably decided by turnovers. We could be 8 and 4 or 4 and 8 or anywhere in between. I am betting on 6 wins.

I think we can. Feel best about getting W’s against SC and Vandy. These are the best matchups for us.

*Mizzou has a penchant for imploding so I could easily see a W there as well.

I really want our team to compete next weekend with Bama but the real victory will be to come out of that game with a healthy team. The rest of the schedule is very much winnable and could propel us into next season with a great recruiting cycle and solid 2019 squad.

I think you'll find, that's pretty much where the majority of posters here think. Most comments I've seen, obviously with the exception of the normal handful, understand this was a huge win, not an invitation to the playoffs. Its almost insulting that some here insinuate such.

After Bama you have 4 winnable conferences games. Until yesterday we hadnt played well enough to win any of those 4. Being relatively health for that stretch will be the biggest concern. I dont think this team is going backward otherwise.

Vandy is a W. So win one out of Mizzou/UK/SC. I like our chances. Especially since the team keeps improving a bit each week

Vandy yesterday played us harder than LSU did last week, and far better than UT did before. They had us down by 18 points at one point in the game. I have not seen our pass rush held in check this well before. Underestimate them and they will easily beat you. Granted we also didn't show up the first half of the game, but they are not a doormat.

How things change, would never have thought I would ever see anyone say there is a chance we can't beat UK and Vandy. Its true, but did not hit me until I saw it in writing.

I think the South Carolina game is the key. If the Vols can win that one on the road, then a Charlotte win would get them within one. After that, they would need just one more from either Kentucky, Mizzou, or Vandy. It is very doable, and I wouldn't have said that two weeks ago.

Kentucky is not playing as well as they did the first few games of the season. Vandy lost to Florida after having a big lead. USC is not playing well. Charlotte is a definite win. No U.T. team has ever beat a WIll Muschamp team, either at Florida or at USC. We can get to 6 wins, with a Charlotte win and two of the USC, Missouri, Vandy or Ky. games. A bowl game for us would be huge and a bowl game win would give us big momentum going in to next season.
We need a good showing this season because in the off season, we will lose Kirkland & Jennings, Abernathy, Kelly Jr. etc. to graduation or to them declaring early for the NFL. So, the roster will look much different next season. Of course, our schedule will be better BYU not WVU. Miss. State not Auburn......

Yeah the only goal I care about for next week is getting out healthy and getting some guys back for USCe and beyond.

6 is way more doable now given that uncc should get us to 4. 7 isn't completely out of the question given how a couple teams are tending...I think if we were to beat it USCe...a tall task I still think it is since they get a bye and we get bama... But win that... Whew... Things really look up quick.

You guys were hung over from LSU.
That’s all

Vandy played a good 3 quarter game yesterday against a team that housed us. They may be the most winnable SEC opponent we have left on the schedule but they are not a gimme and we know they can get up for the finale if it means keeping us from achieving a meaningful goal. All the remaining conference games will be dogfights except Bama.

I agree with this. Yesterday's win was a testament to playing (relatively) mistake free football. Auburn's three turnovers likely cost them the game, or, at least gave TN a much better shot at winning. While it is great to see the team take strides like yesterday, in order to get to 6 wins, we will have to count on our remaining opponents to help us out like Auburn did yesterday. Hopefully at least some of them will. And its about time that an opposing team had some breaks go against them for a change!

All 4 of those teams, especially in recent history, have been hard to beat. I agree with you man. It’s very possible this team only ends up with 4-5 wins but man.... they’ve taken a lot of lumps this year. With that being said, this was a huge confidence game for both the offense and defense. But esp the offense. They were finally able to sustain drives and keep their belabored defense on the bench. If they can execute like that down this stretch, we MIGHT be looking at a bowl game. And if you live in reality that’s something to be optimistic about...

Vandy and Missouri are two of the worst defenses in the SEC. Those are the SEC games I would target as possible wins. SC has no pass rush so JG might be able to light them up if our OC decides to throw it more. Right now we rank way down the list of SEC teams throwing the ball. We like to try to run has killed a lot of drives when it is not working.
