#6 this week

A bit surprising but not shocking that Purdue remained #1, I wonder if we’d have taken over the top spot if we’d won both games this week. Given how inept we looked, perhaps not. In any case I tend to feel better when we’re working our way up as March approaches, rather than trying to hang on to a top one or 2 spot. Plenty of time left, but we’ve got a lot to work on. Vols Forever, GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Seems fair. Texas beat two ranked teams while Tennessee certainly didn't look the part of a Top 5 team against Auburn or in the loss at Florida. Beat Vandy/Mizzou this week and the Vols will either move back into the Top 5or continue cementing themselves so as to not potentially drop below a two seed.

TN can stay 5-6 for the rest of the season as far as I am concerned. The tournament is what matters and whether we are a 1 or 2 seed is irrelevant to actually winning the tournament

They better be ready for Vandy. Vandy is a good team that just has a hard time winning for some reason .
And we've yet to find an answer for Robbins. We've got length and bodies in the front court, but he's better than all our posts combined. Would be great to bang on him or get a couple of quick fouls on the guy. Then again there's no telling who the refs for this one will be.

Public opinion just isn't buying these Vols as a contender. Great defense with enigmatic offense doesn't have staying power. Hopefully the team gets a little fired-up by all the doubting and plays angry. Vandy will win if the offense from the last two games is still lingering.

It’s not that shocking. I don’t think we should be behind Texas, but I’m not going to argue over 1 spot. We lost to a mediocre team in Florida. That comes with some punishment.
The difference has to be the quality of wins Texas had this week, right? Crazy how different the Vols are from one week to the next, after Texas, I felt we could beat anyone by 20 points; now, I'm a nervous wreck to go play at Vanderbilt and worried that we'll be lucky to split the rest of our games.

The arguments about Texas are silly. Looked at their wins and their 4 losses and compare them to our wins and our 4 loses. Easy choice to move them ahead. They lost to Illinois (17 then and just outside the top 25 now), Kansas St. (currently 12), TN (currently 6), and Iowa St (currently 11). We’ve lost to Colorado, Kentucky, Florida, and Arizona (currently 4).

Actually, I don’t think you have a robust knowledge of basketball. I can see them being ahead of Texas. I could go into the reasons, but I don’t think you would understand. It’s not an “easy” choice.

I knew this was coming - AP folks would rather see a race to the finish with lots of points verses a defensive struggle. They compared this to how games used to be prior to the shot clock. That was not exactly accurate though - this was defense controlling the scoring not the 4 corner delay tactics from long ago. I always thought the "keep away" antics were quite amusing though.

I feel this team will be okay - why? Because they play good defense which so far when they have had trouble scoring has kept them in the game.

I am surprised that Alabama did not jump to number one in the polls and I thought that Purdue would drop to at least third.

6 is a good spot for Tennessee.

So Tennessee drops to 6th behind #5 Texas. Purdue loses to unranked IU and stays #1. We lose to unranked Florida and come back to beat 24th ranked Auburn and drop 4 spots.

Don't stress....if we handle our business we will be fine. Other teams are GOING to lose again.....we just need to worry about remembering how to shoot again
