6 SEC teams with new head coaches... TN is currenly 5th.. does this hurt the program?

Out of the 6 SEC teams with new coaches in 2018 the Vols are currently only ahead of Arkansas in Wins/Loses. How important is it for the Vols to finish higher among these teams for recruiting purposes... And remember current commitments can de-commit. ??

I've not checked, but I'd also guess we're the only ones to have played Bama, UGA and UF.

We were 0-8 in the SEC last season. We had a longer way to go than anyone else. I do think it's important to finish strong though.

I think it matter how well CJP can sell the direction of the program. Arkie is still recruiting strong dispite not winning a conference game. They have the top group of WR commits.

I mean we were probably in the worst condition coming into the season, and I’d be willing to bet that we’ve had the toughest schedule to this point out of all of them. Not a big deal at the moment.

I would say playing 4 top 15 teams in the 1st 7 games tends to make your record worse than others.

You talking about first year coaches. First you have to look at the roster that the previous coach left. Butch left Pruitt a team that went 0-8 last year in the SEC. Mullen was left good talent at Florida. Mullen left Miss St. in good shape. Jimbo was left good talent at Texas A/M.

I understand that but do you think it will have an effect on recruiting? Some have pointed out that Pruitt has to sell the program no matter what the record is and that we have a nice receiver class already. I like the point but still wonder about recruiting. And the reason I ask the question is even if a new head coach already has talent or was at the school the year before new head coaches are building their program and are going to recruit as a new program to the players and they will make the comparison between their new position and that of the other new coaches in the league.

I think they will look at what the recruiters put before them and being the bottom isn't going to help no matter what the reason.

And do think we have won or will win our fair share this season??
