halftime right now. tyler and company are putting on an alley oop clinic. tyler made his only 3 point attempt thus far. maze and west both look like awesome additions and hopson is taking it easy but the talent is obviously there. he has some crazy ups!! go vols!!

Maze was definitely feeling it tonight. He was fun to watch out there. He's a high energy kid and it seemed like he played an awful lot of minutes.

apparently Chism left at halftime after he was told he wasn't taking it serious enough... not a good move

The Guy from ETSU Courteny Pingram was on FIRE.

First time seeing Bobby Maze too. Someone told me he had 47 points. A lot of people are going to forget about Ramar after seeing him this year.

Yeah, that is definitely concerning about Chism.

Someone also told me that Jurrick wasn't there tonight. I didn't make that early game so can anyone confirm?

Tyler said he was going to address this with Wayne, and it just goes to show how important it is to have a super player who can also be a leader. Wayne probably just got his panties in a wad, or had a bad day, or any number of other things. I hate to see him make a bad decision like this, but as far as being a UT basketball player this doesn't have me worried.

jurick was not there tonight. Wayne... Has me worried.

Can you explain a little more about the Chism situation and why he has you worried. I mean, obviously it isn't a good thing when a player just leaves at halftime, but details would be greatly appreciated from those that were in attendance.

Game 3 = incredible

Maze and West were playing well against each other, challenging each other on both ends. Maze seems to have an advantage in penetrating, but West is probably a better ball-handler. Maze tended to get selfish at times, though, and didn't want to get shown up. He's got a lot of pride.

Hopson and Tyler went at each other some too, but not to the same extent. Hopson looked hungry for more, calling for the ball quite a bit from Maze, but Maze didn't seem to look for him enough, especially if Hopson is the great scorer we all expect. I hope Maze learns the value of an assist when the season rolls around. I'm sure CBP will teach him.

So Pigram is a stud shooter. The guy was hitting threes from 25 feet, no rim. His team was down 3 with 6.4 seconds left, he dribbles up the court, throws up a beautiful 23 footer while contested by 2 defenders and drills it. Everyone there went wild. Then, in overtime, he gets the opening tip and immediately shoots and makes a 3 from the top of the key. Next posession, he makes another one! Then, at the end of the overtime period, tie game, Tyler dribbles up the court and everyone expects him to drive and create something, but he can't, so Pigram comes off a screen, gets the pass, and drills the game-winner with like 1 second left on the clock. Insane.

Someone needs to tell him to transfer to UT. We're gonna need a good shooter this year.

We could definitely use a shooter like CP.

Maze did end up with 47. I wonder if that is a RTL record?

Jurick was a no show. I really wanted to see what he had.

Chism and Slay horsed around the first few minutes and Chism got benched. He didn't leave but took his jersey off and sat at the end of the bench. That was a disappointment. Slay had an attitude towards his coach and team.

Tatum played pretty good. We will definitely see some good minutes off the bench from him. Outside shot wasn't there, but inside game was good. Had a ton of points.

Tabb played hard, but has a real problem dribbling the ball. Especially, in traffic. Not good for a guard.

Ogelsby hit a bunch of 3's, but he missed three times as many. I've seen him shoot better.

Best game of the night was the last. Tyler vs. Hopson. West vs. Maze. Pigram stole the show. Hit a ton of threes from Lofton range. One was a buzzer beater to send to overtime. The last was the game winning shot with no time left on the clock.

Hopson will not be a one and done. Very quick release on his shot. Good moves even with Smith guarding.

West was very good tonight. He totally different than Maze. Looks to pass (and a very good passer) and sets up the offense. Handles the ball extremely well.

Maze looks to score when the ball is in his hands. He was outplayed in the first half by West. Played very well in the second. Had a ton of points in the second half. Looks to score first, pass second. This is the RTL though.

Pigram had the best game of the night. Just couldn't miss.

he ain't transfering! ETSU! Go Bucs! Go!

awesome to hear Courtney is doing good. He had a great soph. year getting the A-Sun player of the year but didn't have as good of stats last year, mostly because we brought in Kevin Tiggs and we were a more balanced team instead of letting Courtney get 40 points a game.

I have attended both night, and, for the most part, agree with the assessments on here so far. To follow up on Jurik, he was TERRIBLE on Monday. I'm an even 6'0, and I feel like I could have guarded him. Absolutely horrible. No coordination, lazy, runs sorta like Peyton  He completely gave up on a few plays and Slay gave him a look that could kill. He was doing his best not to berate him in front of everyone. I was very disappointed in West the first night, but much better tonight. However, Maze is definitely the starter. I think as long as he doesn't let his ego get the best of him, we are in for a treat. I don't think Hopson has really given it his best yet, he is very laid back. Tabb looks much improved, and I have even been somewhat surprised with Stephen Pearl. He still can't shoot, but he can actually take it to the hole. I also didn't realize he could dunk with such ease. I have been a 3-pt shooter all my life, winning a few 3-pt contests in my AAU days, and I have never, ever, seen someone like Courtney Pigram tonight. He literally shot that first 3 at the end of regulation as a fadeaway halfway between the 3 line and halfcourt over 2 players, then the game winner from about the same distance as Maze tackled him trying to prevent him from hitting it. Also, something I haven't seen mentioned, how can a D-I school not find a roster spot for Michael Blue of Hiwassee??? That kid's head was literally above the rim on several occasions, I don't think I have ever seen someone that can jump that high. He didn't impress in any other areas, but the fact he could be a pure rebounder/shot blocker with the routine Sportscenter-worthy dunk should get him somewhere better than Hiwassee. There should definitely be a dunk contest at the end of all this between him and that kid in the 3rd game from ETSU (was it Greg something?).
