5th year of eligibility

it would not affect those players as they have exhausted all eligibility, and I am pretty sure that the 5th year rule is post covid students.
This rule is been debated for a while and with the court loss about Juco seasons not counting and why Kitselman and Pavia are able to come back for another season to their respective teams they pretty much are conceding that redshirt status will be the next domino to fall as it limits a students ability to cash in.

This rule is basically deleting redshirts, instead of 5 years for 4, you can now go 5 for 5.
I think you are correct.

That is not what was said. Play college for five years and then you go to work or nfl. Play three years college declare for draft but go undrafted and don’t sign with a team then you should be able to come back to college and play for two more years. Kind like baseball kids get drafted but goes play college ball.
Got it. I was just being facetious.

Bring back Chris Mims, Chuck Smith, and Dale Carter. Maybe we could get back Billy Williams too. It wouldn't hurt to have his speed.

Austin Price said today that he expects the 5yr eligibility to get passed in a couple weeks and that both ZZ and Maschack may be back next year.

I’m curious if this could apply to some of our football seniors like Mays, Spraggins, Karic, Bru.

Thornton is the only one. All others this was 5th or 6th year for them

This would wipe out an entire high school class of 2025 because every senior at every college could play another year. No roster will have an opening. Terrible ruling if it’s permanent for all sports

If they’re being paid now, and it’s not really about getting an education, why not just let them stay for however long. 12th year senior

Because maybe there are high school athletes that would like a freaking chance to play at the next level? Geez

One would think it will have to be an across the board for all sports.
That's what I'd have assumed, too. One thing I'll be interested to see is how the staff treats some of these "5th year guys". This is now a business and there are bound to be players in that category that won't be welcome back. The staff might tell some of these players that they need to find other digs. In essence, they'll be cut/released. Nothing personal. Just business.

I may be in the minority but even if Bru could come back, we need to move on to younger guys.
