West has an amazing team. Rhea was outmatched. I have no problem admitting that. It was sheer grit and determination that made this a game and almost pulled it out for Rhea.
However, what the heck game were you watching? That was hands down the worst officiated playoff game I've ever seen. I've seen worse regular season games, but this was supposed to be the best officials from the state. They were clueless half the time and heavily favored West most of the other times.
Constant holding by West's oline and WR's against the Rhea edge players. Two pass interference calls against Rhea that kept drives alive but weren't even close. One was way short and uncatchable, the other was a perfectly timed hit just after the ball arrived.
But the worst part was the constant mis-spotting of the ball. West was routinely given 2 extra yards of forward progress. Can't wait to watch the replay on video because it was the most obvious job of pushing the ball down the field by the refs that I've ever seen. The side judge on the home side was the perpetrator. The other side mostly did a good job. I lost count of the number of times the down marker marked the spot (not official, I know, but they know what they're doing) and had to move two yards further upfield. It was a freaking joke.
Good luck to West in Cookeville. Their team is special.
