50th Bowl Game

I havent seen it mentioned but the Taxslayer Bowl will be UT's 50th all time post season bowl game. :rock:

According to Wiki, that keeps us tied for 4th through 6th with Georgia and USC. Nebraska has 1 more game than us. Texas will have 53 and Alabama is on top is 62.

Tennessee's first bowl was 1931? Wiki says it was January 2nd, 1939 against Oklahoma.

Tied for 4th, right? Nebraksa is playing a bowl also, so they stay in 3rd.

Technically, the first bowl game in the traditional sense was the Orange Bowl against OU in 1939. The game against NYU in 1931 was a post-season game for charity. The only true bowl game at that time was the Rose Bowl.

Tennessee has a great tradition and history as a program. Heck, I had no clue of it all as a child when I first started loving Tennessee. As I grew older and started really understanding the sport it made me proud and happy that I fell in love with this team.

I must be looking at a whack wiki. First bowl was a looooooooong time ago! Tied for 3rd or 4th. One site had Bama at 60 bowl games, another at 59. Meh, we've been to a lot!
