The only message that is clear by that is there are a lot of people that think the role of an athletic director is similar to a floor manager at Sears.

Thank God we don't run an athletic department via direct democracy.

Interesting that Pearl is the liar and the one with unethical conduct that has caused a season long media attack on our basketball program, but the general fan wants him to stay and Hamilton to be fired. Perfect logic and says something about the intelligence of our fan base.

Personally, I don't see the arguement for keeping either.

Pearl should be gone because of the unethical behavior, particularily with the urreported Bump violation after the first go around.

Hamilton should be gone for not having already firing Pearl. I understand why he didn't, but that was his gamble, and it didn't pay off.

I disagree with this part. Hamilton should be fired because the majority of his hires have not been wonderful and his interview Wednesday was disgraceful. But the firing of Pearl was always something that should wait for March.

Both should be fired as soon as this team is eliminated from the tourney and not a minute later.

I hate being a Vol fan sometimes. Not because of the Vols but because of fellow Vols fans. Whoever voted in this poll needs to be slapped. Hamilton didn't lie to the NCAA, why in the heck is it Hamilton's fault that Pearl lied to the 'AA?? 2 years ago everybody on here and GVX LOVED Hamilton. He found a heck of a coach in Bruce and made a good hire in Kiffin (its not Hammy's fault that Kiff's dream job opened) I think that Hammy made a heck of a hire in Dooley and will do the same once Pearl is let go. Either later today or sometime early next week.

I would agree that the majority of the negative messaging about the lack of support of Pearl is fueled by Vandy, Kentucky, etc. posers.

OK, let's all go back to reading comprehension class; also GoVolsXtra.com needs to take a tests and measures course. The poll has no option for "I support neither." So, just because people voted that they support Pearl "more" does not mean that they support pearl. It's like asking "who would be a better babysitter, Michael Jackson or Jeffrey Dahmer?"

I think that is true until early in the 2008 campaign. After the first three games most fans had run out of patience and the good will had run dry. Everyone knew the end was near and agreed it should be over.

Is this a fortune 500 company or a Athletic Department? Money is the only reason the guy still has a job, there isn't another one unless he has naked pictures of someone.

The only thing in his job description that he screwed up was the low buyout on Kiffin's contract and the baseball hire. I'm not sure where you get the mythical "laundry list" of errors.

Those that keep bashing him for the Kiffin hire can't tell me one person from the short list that was/would have been a better hire.

The raises for Failure every year for Fulmer were a good move? How about that fat Buyout? Give the guy a raise then fire him the very next year?

So what i gather from this poll is 91% of Tennessee fans like winning and making the tournament.

The other 8% Enjoy mediocrity across the whole athletic department,, but hot damn the guy is good at fundraising.

That poll is the sports equivalent of "Which would you rather have: The flu or brain cancer?" Without a none of the above option, that poll is meaningless.
