50 dollar bet

While TN should be much better, betting any amount of money
(even some bet as small and insignificant as 50 bucks) on their record against another established program is nothing short of foolish. Far from a sure thing.

It will be a restaurant steak dinner. No specifics on where, but I will be getting the best steak on the menu where ever it is we go. No high class 5 star stuff, but probably longhorn or outback since that is what is here. I would much rather go locally owned steak house, but we are all chain restaurants in our town.

So my ignorant brother n law just made a bet with me that West Virginia would finish the season with a better record then the Vols. The bet is for 50 bucks. He thinks the Vols suck and will barely finish 500. What does Volnation think? I'm pretty confident that I will be 50 dollars richer at the end of the season.

I think you just lost 50$.

Either one of those will work. I believe the porterhouse at Outback should suffice. :)

WVU only has 1 definite loss on its schedule and thats OU. Texas and OSU have defenses that could stop them but their offenses are terrible. So you are betting we win at best 10 and at worst 12. You may be out 50 bucks my friend.

That's a bet you already lost. WVUs defense was vastly underrated last year and they may have the most explosive offense in the country. The Big 12 really only consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and WVU, so their odds of picking up nine or ten wins are pretty solid. On the flip side, Tennessee will face the SEC, has spent 2008-2011 going 23-27, and is banking on a predominantly new staff to turn around a team that fell apart late last year. Tennessee is better than they have been, but the totality of the comparison favors the Mountaineers.

Wvu has a senior qb and their offense is clicking. They are in the second year of the air raid, typically a big improvement. Losing Bruce Irvin and playing in the big 12 s a def minus. But Baylor and Texas will be breaking in new qb's. Ok prob a loss but the rest are winnable. Only tough road game is texas and ok state. Max 3 losses. Tcu, kansas state, and ok they get to play at home. I'd prob put the odds at 2 to 1 your brother gets $50

I wouldn't have taken that bet because WVU is in a weaker conference. I'd bet $50 that you spelled (than) wrong in the sentence about wvu being better than us. It is spell than not then.

My Grandmother bartends at a WV bar in Myrtle Beach and makes this bet with the owner every year. She actually has to dye her hair blue and yellow if WV finishes the season with a better record than the Vols.

So in December...her hair is normally blue and yellow : /

Fifty dollars is about a month's take home for a McDonald's hamburger flipper.
Are you sure you want to clean your brother out like that?

One thing I learned early in my UT fandom, is to never bet for or against them.... But thats just me. I dont see where you will come out ahead with this wager... But good luck man. :good!:

Just curious, as in a restaurant steak dinner? And if so, where you specific to where? The reason why I ask is that he needs to pay dearly for making a stupid bet and going against the Vols.:)

MMMM. Ye Olde Steak House comes to mind..........always a stop when I come to town...

I'd bet you $50 that you got your tenses wrong. It is spelled, not spell.

Big 12 is a nothing conference, wvu is a nothing school, but decent by big 12 standards, so he may beat you. You should of taken difficulty of schedule in maybe?

If you lose the bet, make sure you pay him in ones. If he's from West Virginia, he won't be able to count that high anyway, save yourself some cash.

Good news: if you win the bet, you have almost paid for your ticket to watch the Vols in the SECCG.

Part of the problem with picking how WVU will do is though how terribly cardiac/ up and down they were last year...sure one week they're trouncing Clemson, beating up on teams they should like Uconn, marshall, etc...but several others they were just sneaking by teams like Pitt, really too close games to Maryland/USF/Cincy ... or losing to Louisville...or getting blown out by Syracuse (still baffled a bit by that)

Not some sort of blow to the program or the team (or anyone's fandom), but they were kind of all over the plaastatine times last year

I made a bet with a buddy for a steak dinner. Vols have a losing record I owe him a steak dinner and if they have a winning record he owes me. He thinks the vols are going to have 4 wins on the season and that Mizzou is going to win the east. I like my chances.

I think it's possible though highly unlikely you lose the bet. But I'll bet your buddy $1000 against a steak dinner Missouri doesn't win the east. Medium rare please!

That's the part you'd call him out on with a bet...not the "TN will do no better than 4-8 this year" part?

Touche...4 wins is a ridiculous prediction. I just think the guy was razzing a friend with that part. He probably believes the Missouri part.
