5 Wide, No Huddle offense

I wouldn't say it's the ONLY way. However....we do have the personnel to do it. And it would be exciting to see what Tennessee does with a no-huddle. Only thing that comes to my mind, is aren't no huddles mostly ran by DT quarterbacks? I don't know if I want Bray scrambling. I could be wrong on that.

But, with Rogers, Hunter, Patterson, Bowles, Howard/Croom, I would take that.

Wrong. I agree we can win 8 games that way, but it is not the only way we can win 8 games.

We will win more with the pass opening up the run IMO.

If you go five wide the majority of the time, Tyler Bray will be crippled for life by the 4th or 5th game.

five wide would be nasty.

Hunter & CP on the outside

We got a slew of guys that could work the slot.

Gotta be able to run the ball late in the 4th to salt away the game though.

Rogers and Dallas would make great slot receivers. I'm ready to see what Clear can do too. Bringing that dude over the middle might be the key mismatch we've been looking for.

We mixed 5 wide with Majors in the 80s when Al Saunders rewrote the playbook. Screens to Gault until they played tighter coverage then went deep. Going 5 wide again would be a nice change of pace. Hope to see some smash mouth running game in the mix too tho

Chaney is pass happy
Dooley wants to pound the rock

We do both and we win more games, simple as that. The team that controls the line and the clock wins. Quick strikes means the defense has to play more snaps and that is what we don't want to see happen, we need balance.

Personally I would like to See a 3 receiver's with Darrick being in the slot. I would like to see a fast pace offense keeping fresh legs in at WR and wearing out Defenses. It not only opens up the pass but opens up the run.

Peyton disagrees about running the ball to win in the SEC...

2 of the top-3 rushing seasons in UT history are from 95 and 97. He only had 1 season without a 1000yd rusher. I would bet he agrees that running the ball is very important

this... teams that utilize the tight end seem to make it to the championship games... and clear is big enough to hurt some sec DB's

Never said it wasn't important.. I know he knows it's important but do you not agree that his passing threat opened up most of that rushing??

I'd like to make our standard set a 3 receiver set. I just think defenses will wince at the thought of having to go up against rogers, hunter, and patterson for every play.
