5 reasons why the Volunteers can win the SEC in 2016

Reason #1 of 5.......

1. DE Derek Barnett is one of the best players in the entire country
This is a bit of a spoiler alert, but when PFF releases its ranking of the best college football players heading into the 2016 season, Barnett is going to be right up there near the top. He earned the highest PFF pass-rushing grade among returning Power-5 edge defenders, and fifth among all 4-3 DEs with 62 QB pressures (including 10 sacks). Unlike some of the other top edge rushers in the country, he played well against the run, too, and he will lead what should be one of the nation’s best defensive fronts in 2016. Expect him to challenge Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett as the country’s best pass-rusher this year.

Writer clearly doesn't watch tape or know stats. To write an article and not mention the only passing stat that matters, third down efficiency, is just glaring. And obviously one doesn't talk about Hurd without mentioning his girth.

Another reason... I believe that Shoop is a big upgrade at DC. Can't wait to see how much time our DL spends in the backfield!

I see us winning the S.E.C. Championship game! Injuries at key positions will be the only thing that will deter us.
I see us losing to Florida & Alabama in the regular season. Then Florida getting 3 S.E.C. losses, thus putting us in as the East representative.
Once in the S.E.C. Champ game, we will beat L.S.U. We stop their run game with Leonard F. then we blitz the q.b. and force him in to mistakes or sacks. Defense wins the game.

How about Tennessee will be pretty good? Also, if we're gonna win the SEC, we're gonna have to beat the best team from the West.

yeah, i think this whole "we get FL and Bama at home" thing is way overrated.

where we've played either team hasn't mattered a whole lot.

and, they bookend two tough road games.

now, if all 4 of those games were spread out a bit or we got at least one of them after a bye....then i might lean toward this whole "favorable" schedule thing.

but there's no doubt that 4 game stretch is tougher than any 4 games GA and FL will play.

3 of those 4 are very physical offenses with downhill runners. I hate that we end that stretch with Bama. At least they play Arkansas the week before they play us, another physical team.

I can handle losing to Bama...maybe.... but not Florida. Not this year. Not again. That streak has to end and it has to end yesterday.

Beat Florida or I have no use for you. Inexcusable how we lost the last two years. CBJ MUST beat them or my interest will plummet. I know. Who cares? I'm just one guy...but forget about me; this is vital for the psyche and future of the entire program. Win.....and it truly shows the program is moving forward in a big way.
