5 Most Consistent Vols According to BR

I wouldn't include Pig on this list. He's awesome, and I'm very glad he's on our team. But he goes through spurts where he doesn't run solid routes or gets the drops. Not as consistent as he could be. His senior year could be special if he learns to be consistent.

Also, Sutton should be the #1.

No way. When I saw this earlier, the first thing I thought was Pig better be on that list. The numbers don't lie. He has been the go to receiver two years running. And I don't see that changing unless someone like Malone steps up in a big way.

He is the go to receiver. That doesn't make him consistent. Worley threw some head-scratchers through his career, but a portion of the interceptions were because receivers were not where they were supposed to be at the end of their routes. And it seemed like Pig was guilty of that more often than the other receivers. He had some in-the-numbers drops from Dobbs also. Maybe it was noticeable because he was targeted so often. His heart and athleticism make up for a lot of his mistakes, but he could be more consistent IMO.

Idk. Maybe we're remembering different things but Pig had more experience than any of our other receivers last year. He was the only one that I was confident in as far as rout running at the beginning of the season. You don't put yourself in the position to be the go to guy if you're not consistently in the right place.

And I could definitely be forgetting about some drops but at a minimum he made up for it by consistently making big catches at the end of games.

Pretty sure we can agree that we're lucky that he's a Vol though. He's a very small receiver. Just don't tell him that because I don't think he knows it :)

I certainly appreciate this list, think the writer put some good thought into it. I'd have made it a half-dozen and included Hurd, every bit as consistent and dependable as fellow freshman Barnett on the other side of the ball. But wouldn't argue at all with the five listed.

Pig is extremely solid, however North is our number 1 as long as he's healthy.

He's our stud for sure. He's the guy that can beat you on the deep play on any given down (if we can throw it where he can go get it). But he's not the most consistent. If I remember correctly he was a RB in high school. I think his best is yet to come because he must have learned a lot between season one and this coming season. We just didn't get to see a lot of it because he was hurt.

I agree that a healthy North is the most dangerous guy we could put out there. But consistency is something we are yet to see from him. I'm hoping as much as anyone that we see it soon though

I really like Cam Sutton, but it is hard to put him as #1 the way he missed that tackle at the beginning of the Taxslayer Bowl.

The article states that if he duplicates last year he will rank 3rd in school history with catches.

That's pretty consistent dude.

Anyone else excited to see what Johnathan Johnson might do this year? He got a ton of reps in spring camp, and Coach Z had a lot of good things to say about him at the time. I think he might splash onto the scene this year with the boost in confidence he must have gotten from all of that practice time. I'm not predicting he'll be an every game starter or anything but we play a lot of receivers when they are all healthy. I think he makes more of his game reps this year than he did the last.
