I was trying to put together a list of CCM's five most impressive wins during his three years. This is what I came up with:

1) Feb. 26, 2013 win over Florida, Florida was top-10 and we won 3 days after 4OT win over Texas A&M
2) Dec. 30, 2013 win over Virginia, even though, at the time, we were 7-4 and they were 8-3
3) Mar. 19, 2014 win over Iowa, down most of the tournament game but came back to win in OT
4) Jan. 21, 2012 win over Connecticut, big non-conference win in the middle of conference play
6) Feb.11, 2012 win over Florida, Florida was in the top-10 at the time

Which 5 games would be in your top 5?

Even though that Kenucky team wasn't very good, I would place that ass beating we put on them last year pretty highly.

Why don't we list the top 20 most NON IMPRESSIVE losses if the 3 year tenure?? I hear casual fans saying how sad it will be to lose such a class act, and all of that garbage.

I know, He is a class act , but he is an average, good coach at best. This guy was on the BUBBLE each of these 3 years. I seriously believe this team would have made the Sweet 16 even if they had the coach at Bearden high school calling the shots.

Making the sweet 16 with this team was a worst case scenario. It was expected. It is not an awesome accomplishment. I'm fine if he stays, but if he's gone, its not like we can't find an equally talented coach very easily.

I seriously believe you would be wrong. But we're both just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.

Vandy in 2012. John Jenkins, Festus Ezeli, Jeffery Taylor. Sweet 16 participants. Impressive win.

The only games I've attended during Cuonzo's tenure (for no other reason than I simply don't go to many sporting events) were UCONN, Florida, and Vandy in 2012 and Virginia and Mizzou in 2014. All big wins, so yeah, I think highly of Cuonzo.

I can guarentee Coach Blevins (at Bearden) wouldn't put up with some of the crap this team does. But yeah, snapcrackleandpop is just a hater.

Sweet 16 literally was only expected by dummmies who don't know about basketball like you. We were not ranked. That means no one thought we should make at least the Sweet 16. Only VN idiots thought that.

S16 wasn't an unreasonable expectation given the perceived talent on this roster. However, to say that it was the worst case scenario is crazy. Making it comfortably into the tourney with a legit shot to make a good run was reasonable. But it's a one and done format and anyone can get bounced early.

Perceived talent? Without question, the roster was loaded with talent prior to the season starting. How long it takes to develop it is one measure of a coach.

This roster was loaded with surefire guaranteed talent? no. We thought Hubbs would be an amazing freshman talent. He was hurt. We thought Barton would shoot 40% from 3. He didn't. We thought maymon was going to be the same guy that dropped video game numbers in maui. He wasn't quite to that level. We were replacing a point guard.

The roster was talented, but it was far from a sure thing. Looked good on paper, and it meshed and clicked at the end of the year.

Nobody ranked UT in the top 16 teams preseason. NOBODY. so expecting a sweet 16 is far fetched. I expected to make the tournament easily and make some noise.

We were on the bubble again which is frustrating. but I can't be mad after the run we had!

And Cuonzo missed the tournament with the same record Bruce had his final year and a better record last year than Bruce's final one. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the NCAA had a silent ban on UT.

I see your point. We had a healthy team! Got rid of Golden, so the p.g. position was an upgrade! Roster had plenty of upper classmen!

My take on this is that Martin didn't motivate this type of play out of them early enough in the regular season. How many more wins could we have had, if they were motivate and playing lights out all season???

Also, we took the hard route, but we still ended up in the Sweet 16; which is where we thought we should be all year......

So what was your expectaions? I know this team was talented but surely you didn't think this team could win a National Championship. I mean be realistic getting to the Sweet 16 with no point guard. I say that's the best you can hope for was getting to the Sweet 16.

Your definition of "great" is different from mine.

Cuonzo was 3-0 vs. Donovan in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013: both were Elite 8 teams.
