5* for Worley & Randolph?

I could care less about the stars or the rankings...much rather see it on the field. Many three stars develop and four/five stars fail to produce. I just want a solid class, and then in 3 years look back on it and see production on the field

You mean you can't already tell how their careers will go like 2/3 of the posters on VN? Amazing. I don't have that ability either.

QB has limited arm strength.....career backup....or transfer...Randolph is gonna be real good!

So did Danny Wuerffel and Jay Barker. But, I never thought about that for some reason when they were throwing for TDs and beating us.

Stars are useful as points of guidance and to make my nightvision work. Plus they serve as suns for distant solar systems.

TN should only take recruits with 5* rivals ranking period.

:D

I trust the coaching staff to pick a five star recruit over any writer, until they prove otherwise (then the coaching staff will probably be gone). So, if Dooley and staff consider a kid a priority then the kid must be something special, in my book. Worley from what I've seen is a legit 4 star QB. All that system crap is just that.

"Develop" is the key word here...in the whole stars matter/stars don't matter debate, many people think the 5 stars mean superstar world saving athlete. In reality, it just means that he's more likely to contribute as a true freshman. 4 stars and 3 stars are guys that will take a year or two to develop, but are still expected to contribute during their college careers.

In this case, Worley definitely needs work on his footwork & release since he's coming from a shotgun offense...nothing a couple of years as a backup in a pro style offense can't iron out. Randolph is going to be real good (definitely not just a 3 star); the only thing he's lacking is the speed of an elite recruit...

Obviously, CDD and CJC believe that Worley is a five star. He was their guy from the beginning. Worley is an easy situation to remember as to whether Derek Dooley was right in his evaluation of the QB in comparison to Scout/Rivals after about three years from now.

I just have a strong suspicion that paying $$$ to these scouting services is a waste. Recent examples of their nonsense are Oku and Brown, plus many others that recently came in highly rated and busted in a big way on or off the field.

Hope so! At only 3 stars, right now Randolph's a complete reach that Dooley probably shouldn't even have offered, but at four or five stars, he'd be a great get! Big fish! Even though he'd still be the exact same player, it would completely change my opinion of the job our coaching staff did in getting him to Knoxville!

I just HOPE we get out of a 3* Worley what Oklahoma got out of a 3* Sam Bradford. As for Randolph, he will ball out of control. Watch and see.

Please do get me wrong, I was just throwing out the question. I am not a star gazer and I fully believe in our staff's ability to access talent. I just thought is was wrong to not award a kid(s) with an additional star for their acheivements.

I could care less if he is a 3 or a 5 as there is not much difference unless they are the rare kind. kids develop differently and I believe we will develop them. However, a bump in stars on each would raise our number where we finish all said and done. I know we have a great class and very confident in CDD. I just want us to move up a spot or two.

Again, I get it - just throwing the question out there. Appreciate the thoughts.

Instead of worrying about stars, Worley better hope Bray goes to the NFL after his Jr year so he can get a lil playing time!!

Big time oversight (OR dis) by ESPN, Rivals and Scout. No worries...somethin' tells me that Randolph, Worley, and, oh yeah, some guy named Carson (remember him?) will have the last laugh.

Recruiting services rate players based on talent, experience, etc.

Services like Parade make All-America lists based on statistics and productivity. Worley had some of the best stats in the Nation, but it doesn't mean he was the most talented. That's why he's an All-America player, but not a 5* player.

I wouldn't be shocked if worley never starts a game at ut

If Bray is productive enough to be gone after his Junior year, Worley has a good chance at getting the job. If he stays til his Senior year, we'll have someone better and younger.

Thanks Crusse! Good to know the criteria for the PAA. I would have thought more than statistics would have been used.
