And if groups are out of the discussion, the list for me would go something along the lines of:

KRS-One
Rakim
Del
Aceyalone
GURU

Freestyle Fellowship had a sick crew.

That's why I made the comment about the group situation, I could have substituted Acey for Myka 9 or Self Jupiter and still been the same on the list. Freestyle made me respect hip hop again at a time when tupac was the only thing I could listen to.

Looks like you... "got a quarterpound of bomb hemp" and it's got you "feelin' alright, like Johnny Kemp."

Oh Fat Lip, to use you in casual conversation is a blessing.

Nas and Jay-Z are easily two of the best to ever do it, easily, and I really don't care for Jay-Z.

Kanye, while not an elite emcee ( nowhere close to it really ), he is original in his style ans flow and as a producer is almost untouchable.

Yeah I slid Kanye in there for his production, which is second to none. People may not agree with 3000, but IMO he is the best lyricist

Agreed about Kanye. I don't care for his mic skills whatsoever, but dude can lay down a track.

Also about Nas and Jay-Z. Illmatic is hands-down one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time, and while Jay-Z isn't for everyone, he's one of the best ever.
