Would finishing 5-7 still be considered a decent season considering the terrible start we had starting 0-2. If we lose to Kentucky and Mizzou but get payback on Vandy would you still be disappointed. We would finish 3-5 in the SEC that would be a 1 game improvement over last season and we will have ended losing streaks to Vandy and Kentucky this season. Remember now back just a couple months ago some fans were saying we might finish 1-11 or 2-10.

Absolutely not. You cannot discount the first two games when measuring the success of a season. Getting to a bowl game would be the only way to consider the season even a minor success.

How can we both lose to Kentucky and break a losing streak to them in the same year? Also, we beat Kentucky last year.

No it would not still be considered a decent season. It would be considered a failure.

Decent I suppose considering how bad we were earlier but very disappointing. It would also mean likely losing to BOTH Mizzu AND KY and just beating on Vandy (though that would be an uptick from last year). Bottom line though is that we need the extra 15 practices and boost to recruiting a bowl would bring. A bowl in Pruitt's 2nd year would also give a lot of credence to the argument that he is the right guy and is leading us back to the promised land of a Top 10 program.

I won't feel good about 5-7 but, if that's where we end up, we'll just have to live with it and hope we see more improvement next year. The way we lose the games would matter to me though. If we get blown out, I'm not going to feel good about the future but I really just don't see this team getting blown out by any of the three we have left.

My bad meant to type South Carolina
That makes sense.

Honestly I do not think losing to UK and Mizzou in our last 3 would be a decent year. It would just bring back up the early season losses and point out that Pruitt can get a few good wins each year but he can't get it done for an entire season. I kind of feel that 6-6 is decent and 7-5 is good. I just cant see another season below .500 as decent.

I’m kinda like if we don’t get one of the two road games and lose both at 4-7 and with no bowl to play for we might not even show up for the Vandy game and roll over, but last season we were 5-6 going into the Vandy game with a bowl berth on the line and we look disinterested and got our butts kicked.

We should be worried about 7 or 8 wins this season, not bowl eligibility. Losing to GA St. and BYU was unacceptable and puts this team and coaching staff in a bad spot with 3 games remaining. I’d be very surprised if we win 2 of 3 games with the opponents we have left on schedule.

Absolutely not. All the rest of the games are winnable and frankly we should expect too. We don't have Alabama, Georgia, Auburn or LSU in the remaining games so no reason to think we can't win them. Not saying we will, just think its not farfetched to think we should win out.

NO reason for us to lose to Mizzou, Kentucky or Vandy. We are far better than either of those teams IMO. We should go bowling and if we dont then yes, it will be a failure IMO

far better? Don't think you can say that at least about Kentucky or Missouri.

Really? What has either of those teams done recently to think they are playing up to the talent level of UT? Serious question because I may have missed it but i havent seen them do ANYTHING this year that impressed me in the least

In 2017, we finished 4-8 and lost the last 3 (Mizzou, LSU, and Vandy) games. A win against Missouri and Vandy would have put us in a bowl.

In 2018, we finished 5-7 and lost the last two (Mizzou and Vandy). A win against either Missouri or Vandy would have put us in a bowl.

In 2019, we are 4-5 with games remaining against KY, Mizzou and Vandy. We will be either 4-6 or 5-5 heading in the final two games with a chance to make a bowl game. Hopefully, we do not allow Missouri and Vandy to keep out of a bowl again.
