5-7 here we come.

If Tennessee doesent play a lot better Defense as a whole they won't beat GT. Triple option is very hard to defend if you don't play disciplined football and tackle well two things Tennessee doesent do well.

Tennessee won't beat Fl on the road with a QB whose never played a meaningful snap.

We have Georgia at home and they'll be out for blood. They returned a lot of Talent and arguably the best young QB in the league. They'll win this time.

Bama and LSU are losses

Until I see Butch beat Muschamp I'm calling it a loss.

That's 4 and Butch will find a way to lose one more.

7-5 at best
6-6 Safe bet
5-7 if things go really bad

Butch is fired if not during the season at seasons end

Mindless trolling. Volnation at its very worst!

We're 5-7 next year with Butch here. Last year our flops of Oklahoma and Florida were hard to swallow. This year losing to 2 cans from East is the nail in the coffin. Most talent we've had in 10 years and it was wasted!

So his health issues were legit? Or did he have a case of Saban reflux?

And sometimes the best conference is not automatically the one that wins the trophy. It can be just the conference with the best team.

He either was sick or wasn't cut out for the grind of the SEC or sick of the SEC grind.

You are right, it's not always the best conference that produces the NC.

If Butch leaves, that's exactly where we'll be for the next 10 years. Because I don't know of any coach that can come in and get the imbecile's what they want in the 1st to the 4th years. And, I don't have any confidence in the people hiring the next coach....

So, please, celebrate getting rid of a 9-4 coach, for someone that can't do the job the present coach is doing.

Thank you guys for making it absolutely unbearable to be on volnation right now. What we need is a little more negativity. So, carry on.

So dramatic! :eek:lol:

We, TN fans, think TN is an elite program. The statistics, objectively, suggest TN is a historically average team with a few really good runs.

1 national championship in the last half century and 2 sec championships in the same time (18 and 19 years ago respectively). So what exactly is the culture you're wanting to return to?

Interesting take and extremely arguable, if I'm being generous.

Take away the poostorm that has been the past decade and we're a historically top 10 program. Even with it, were right on the cusp. I guess we have a lot of young fans who haven't bothered to study history or a bunch of older fans who choose to ignore it. Vols are not a mediocre program. Vols are a great program that is, hopefully, pulling out of a historically bad stretch. Maybe Jones wins the SEC next year wins everyone back. More likely, he's gone in 12 months. Either way, the program will survive and once again thrive.

It's comical how some so-called fans would rather denigrate their own program and minimize 120 years of accomplishments than admit their man crushes may not be the best available option to coach their team.

Pretty close to a 5 or 6 win season this year. Once our recruiting trails off due to lack of results on the field we'll soon be 5-7 with the current coach.

Dooley was seriously so bad that it has caused a large portion of this fanbase to be content with mediocrity when we were set up for greatness this season. It's sad. This is a proud program and Jones has hit his ceiling. If Butch leaves it will be a blessing in disguise as long as we hire the right AD for the job, David Blackburn.

For goodness sakes people he lost a ton of players to injury and was trying to give a brat for running back the benefit of the doubt that he wouldn't quit on his teammates. Problem was Hurd turned out to be a turncoat. And before the Negavols come in here and say he should have known. How would it have looked it if one of our few home state 5 stars left? You all would have wanted him lined up for the stake. Bottom line he may have somewhat lost the team commradity down the stretch but he can get them back

Wait, who set us up for greatness this year? :pilot:

So I guess you credit Ron Zook when Florida won a national championship under Urban Meyer? Recruiting is half of the job in the SEC. A successful coach in this league has to not only recruit at a high level, but also develop it and utilize it effectively. Jones has only proven he can do 1 out of the 3 well, and he will not be able to even say that much longer.

So you're telling me we're paying a coach $4.1 million a year to let a player dictate his decision making? It's obvious Jones screwed the pooch by not making Kamara RB1 since he stepped foot on campus. He's a natural fit for the offense and has the ability to make a 2 yard play into a 20 yard play in an instant.

So if 9-3 is all we can hope for, why not move to the ACC and cut our recruiting budget in half and have more Tennessee kids on the team? Also cut the ticket prices in half, too. GT charges like 45 bucks for tickets.

You do realize that in either the CFP or AP polls 10 teams have won 10 games or more currently...out of 128 teams...right?

I'm all for cutting ticket prices though I'd prefer to stay in the SEC. :)

The culture where we expect to compete for championships, win them with some regularity, and not regularly lose to SEC bottom feeders we historically OWN.

Oh, definitely. UT fans dominate in the area of imaginary entitlements.

So Tennessee fans can never expect a championship, ever?

Well, in my lifetime I expected that Peyton would win one when he returned for his senior year, was not meant to be. But, we won one the next year and I don't think that was "expected."

We had to go undefeated to do it, and it was not without some close calls, some luck...

I would change the word expect to hope, after all, around '77 or so we brought a National Championship Coach home to Tennessee and everyone thought that would do the trick, didn't work out that way and his understudy won it all without Manning and without Cut, Randy Sanders was the OC for the championship game.

The irony of him being at FSU presently is not lost on me.

Like expecting an SECCG berth every 5 years?

The SEC Championship game was first played in 1992.

That's 25 years. Tennessee has played in the game 5 times, winning twice in '97 and '98 and not since.

Spot on!
