4th quarter play calling!

If I was a college coach I would never take my foot off the gas. Maybe go slower and run more clock but never stop trying to score. No lead is safe in college football anymore. I'm sure Pittsburg thought there was no chance they would lose when they were up 31-6 in the 4th quarter today.

Careful, GL... You're gonna get them after you because they can't understand what you mean and think you're bashing our coaches and team after our biggest win in seven years... But I know what you mean! GBO!

I get the whole "work on the clock" mindset...but to just completely "tank it" ????? I'm not saying try to hang 60 on an opponent...but Hesse kids work to hard to be completely handcuffed offensively the entire 4th qtr. not to mention putting Dobbs at unnecessary risks running three times in a row from the 10 yard line. The fans who traveled also deserve more for there time and money. Very frustrating nod concerning.

No ray of sunshine is bright enough to get through the dark cloud that some people are.

Let me ask u this fellow posters.....do you think any of the four "playoff coaches" would've called the 4th quarter the way Butch and Co. did????? I rest my case.

I bet they each wish they had a 35 point lead.

None of the other coaches you speak of were up 45-7 either. Oregon pulled their starters in the 4th or did you not notice that?

Yes I noticed...and if you'll reflect back..the 2nd teamers were allowed to "play". They actually even threw the ball a little and even "scored". I'm all about playing the 2nd team....just allow them to actually "play". If the opposing defense wants to lay down....that's on them. Welcome to the world of modern day football!

I was in the other thread that you are referring to, I was also Navy.
We had a saying in my day....
"It takes a strong kid to leave civilian life for military but it takes a strong man to leave the military for civilian life."
Now, enjoy stomping the opposition to prove manhood, and also enjoy manhood if/when you reach it.

Do yourself and all of us a favor and stfu. Better to remain silent and have us think you are an idiot than post this crap and remove all doubts.

How anybody can complain about this game is beyond me. This team was thoroughly prepared with a laser focus. It was a blowout with a few garbage time TDs, which happen against the backups.

I wondered about the play calling from the end of the 3rd on. It's disappointing that Tennessee stopped being aggressive. It was great to get the win however

Don't tell me or anyone on this board to stfu! Just because your feelings are hurt because I'm not as giddy as you over the win doesn't make me wrong or you right. I'm tickled to death over the win and was totally pumped with their performance through the first 3 qtrs. My disappointment is the way Jones chose to totally tank it in the forth qtr. Of course the outcome was decided.....but don't stop playing! If you're trying to be classy...fine...put the 2nd team in and let them PLAY! If an opposing defense chooses to lay down...that's on them.

Plus, Ferentz with the onside kicks after the Vols called off the dogs with 10 minutes left in the game. Vols could have scored 60 if they had wanted to

I found this interesting. Iowa kept trying to onside kick after we obviously called off the dogs. If they get a couple of those, at what point do we call the horses back in?

Stfu, we just smoked this team! Our online looked better, Dobbs, Hurd and Pearson played lights out and our defense, for all intents and purposes dictated the game. Shame for finding something to ***** about, this was domination! Fans should be beyond joy that we are finally digging out of the ****hole we have been in lol!

Other than needing a little more experience managing blowouts:):) it was a great game. Every game has room for improvement but there was nothing to seriously complain about in this game.

The young men turned out a great product tonight. Good job!!!!
