False. And dumb.

Really? Please explain this one.....The shamecocks are the only team that would put up a fight. Ut Martin, Ohio Bobcats, Vandy, Florida, UL Monroe and SC.....5-1 seems very logical.....

The Vols were flat and overconfident or they would have beat utc by 60. still recovering from the fla game.

This is a great point.

Frankly the O line has been a problem for close to a decade now.

2006 Class

Ramone Johnson
Jacques McClendon
Darius Meyers

2007 Class

Cody Pope
Darris Sawtelle

2008 Class

Preston Bailey
Carson Anderson
Dallas Thomas

It wasn't like the cupboard was loaded for Kiffin or Dooley either.

True.

Kiffin started walk-on offensive linemen .

This is by far the most pessimistic I've ever seen this forum after a win. They won 45-10 and you'd think it went the opposite way. Look, the offensive line sucks. I get it. That's an issue you're going to have with so many young players. Give them some time and they'll gain the experience they need to be decent. Add in a good QB (Dormady?) and this team will be good in a few years with the way the staff is recruiting. Speaking of them, Tennessee absolutely does not need to fire anyone for quite a few years, unless recruiting obviously starts to fall. The program cannot handle anymore turnover and attrition. So let's all just chill out and watch our young team develop. Go Vols!

better get ready for a lot of losses then. jones is a great recruiter, but it isn't equaling into great play. I'm really beginning to think jones isn't going to get it done. his coaching skills just are not on par with the SEC. we will be lucky to beat UK. we are a doormat in the SEC. not saying it is his fault, but you have to win games and I really think he won't do it. a team with this talent shouldn't look this bad.

I saw young 1 star linemen running right by our so called 4-5 star lineman. Has to be coaching. That many players can't all be busts.

If you're already ready to give up on Butch, then you better get ready for perpetual losses forever because this program can't handle another coaching change, player attrition, and rebuild.

How many did Jones recruit in 2013 and 2014 classes?

Did he not know he would run into this problem?

He recruited 3 of those playing on this line now

So are they not talented or not coached right?

Its called being a freshman...how many of our all-american lineman over the past 20 years would you like me to show you were either red shirted or 3-4 down on the depth chart in their freshman year at UT?

I swear, I wish there was a rule that you need to have played the sport in order to comment on it. Would solve so much of the ignorance that runs rampant around here.

It's pretty ridiculous. If our fanbase manages to run off Butch prematurely then we deserve to suck.

To add a little insight, did anybody stop to think some of these decisions were made on purpose? I coached may daughter's soccer team for several years, and successfully. One thing that I learned from reading a book about Bear, was to exploit your own weaknesses at every opportunity. When you have a lead, start doing things your not good at to learn how to get better at it. The play calling for unsuccessful plays could have been to give the team more experience with those plays, so that they could analyze this more in the film room for teaching purposes. They also may not have given much help to the line to show them their weaknesses and develop better training films going forward. This game should have been used as a glorified practice to work on things that haven't gone well, and I think it was just that. The D looked good, but not spectacular. They used a few different sets to see if they could disguise coverages better. I think that worked well. Purposefully, they should have many teaching points from this game. I'll end with a quote from Vince Lombardi, "Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong".

Why is every thread a lecture about how miserable I should be?

And how many head football coaches are on friggin volnation forums . I think there are at least 7 who could have led the Vols to the National Championship starting a thread as we speak:cray:

Google God this fan base is pathetic. We lose. We suck. We win. We suck.

I guess some of you just cannot enjoy a win. Sad.

What is really sad is that you cannot grasp why so many are upset after this win.

If you aren't able to have witnessed the O-Line play against a glorified high school team yesterday and not come away with great concern about our upcoming schedule, then I don't know what you are thinking.

I guess you should go back to candyland where everything is just fine and dandy and continue berating those of us that don't want to see all of our QB's murdered on the field over the next few weeks.

I don't think he is saying "impressive", at least that's not what I read. It was a win. Give the moaning and groaning a rest for at least a week. The constant negativity has gotten pretty old. Anyone that follows UT knows we have issues on the O line, questionable play calling, etc. Your negative comments haven't changed anything. CBJ isn't going anywhere, and neither are any of his coaches probably, these freshmen aren't gaining one bit of experience by any means other than time. It is what it is. Any positivity is quickly followed by one of you guys reminding us how we suck, how we'll be lucky to win 5 games, how Coach Jake should follow your advice about how to call a game...really you think they don't see what you see? You think they are all suddenly incompetent? They couldn't care less if we win or not? We lose, you get pissed off, we lose and their livelihood and career is at stake. Who has more to lose than these players or coaches? Certainly not you that come here everyday talking about how sorry they are.

I agree with you on everything you say, except one point...I do believe that Butch/Bajakian have heard the complaints about the QB not running enough in the zone read offense and they DID make changes this week. It seems to me that our QBs had more positive rushing attempts and yards in this game than we've had since Dobbs was taking snaps last season. I just wonder if the staff took the opportunity against a lessor opponent to test the waters, and that we may continue to see more diversity in the coming weeks.

Here is something that nobody has brought up. Yesterday we started what would currently be our 4th and 5th string running backs for about 95% of the game. I don't care who you are playing, your rushing stats are not going to look as good if your not playing your best running backs.

Also from watching Freak's offense video, you probably could take away 3 of those sacks with Hurd or Lane playing. Coleman Thomas didn't have a good game by any means, but on at least three of those sacks, the running back had no idea what he was supposed to do while pass blocking. I'm pretty confident that if Hurd had played more than two snaps, and they didn't hold North out for precautionary measures, we would see a hell of a lot more offensive production.

This is really getting freaking old! What I don't understand is that when anyone questions, or criticizes the oline (which sucks beyond belief) it turns into something about Jones being fired. I haven't read a single thread where someone has suggested that he be fired, be held accountable? Yes.

Here is the thing. This is game six, our oline should be progressing in a positive way. Clearly after that putrid performance today and last week, they are not. In fact it looks like they are regressing. They made Chatt. look like an SEC defense today.

I don't know what the answer is, but its clear as day that whatever they are doing is not working. And yes, I know they are young, inexperienced and all the other excuses. Its BS. They should be getting better. They are not!

Perhaps they are not any good and we have nothing better. I'm sure they are getting coaching and tips from former players. Ever think of that? Or do you just prefer to say its 100% coaches fault

Just a silly post. You and a lot of others on here have unrealistic expectations. Yes we have talent but we have very young talent. This team is playing with heart and passion, we are winning the games we should, like we should. You havent seen this team play down to a low level when facing lower level tallent which is exaclty what UT did before Coach Jones. Yes we are unfortunately making mistakes at critical times. However, the coach isn't the one making the mistakes on the field. The coach is putting us in position to win week in and week out against teams that have been recruiting top talent for several years and have far more depth than we do right now.

I just don't get posters like you. You act as if we have recently been relevant in football. This program was so far behind other SEC programs and was a dumpster fire when Jones arrived. Since his arrival our fan base has been reinvigorated and recruiting has taken off and all of this will translate to wins.

Did anyone of you negative Nancys watch Mullens interview on GameDay. If you did you would have heard him give credit to the fans for showing up when things weren't perfect because this helped land the tallent they needed and the team feeds off the positive energy of the fanbase.

Unfortunately our guys are having to try to ignore the negative talk like yours and so many others on here.

So please go eat a Snickers and quit whining or go cheer for another team. Because we need other teams to have a lot of fans like you, we just dont need them here!

Right. Anyone who doesn't see that this team is better now than where Dooley left it just doesn't know football.
