43 Things That Will Make You Feel Old

damn! I wasn't even born in 91

did you learn any computer programming languages or anything like that? Fortran type stuff

Some. Just enough to get by. Back then, you had to know a lot more than you do now. Lots of easy click stuff now.

OK, for you "old" guys, do you remember when TV programs were only 15 minutes long. Do you remember when there war only about 5 hours of programming a day? Do you remember reading in the paper about the Dodgers moving out of Brooklyn? Do you remember the Indian head pattern that used to be on TV until the programs actually started and the Star Spangled Banner being played every night when programming ended? Do you remember the riots in Clinton, TN where they called the National Guard in? Were you old enough to watch the original episode of Superman on TV?

This I remember. Also remember our first color tv. I think it was 1968. Also at the start of programs that stated... Bewitched, in color!

Hope you feel better! Do the PT, it helped get me back on the trail in short order. I just turned 50 in April, so I'm not far behind you.

Thanks. I used the same surgeon that did my other knee 5 years ago. Therapy twice a week, and home exercises.

Our first TV was an oval screen b/w Admiral. The first TV I got to watch was my cousin's family's. Every kid in the neighborhood would crowd in at 6 pm to watch Superman. It was the only TV in the neighborhood. We got ours when I was around 10.

I remember ours was a square console type. Screen was 19" massive back then.

Edit: 20" oval

Dodgers were in LA when I got here. Do remember the Indian head but none of the others.

1st car was a 65 Mustang - cost $250 & insurance was $300

I bought one new from Hull Dobbs in Knoxville. $89 down and $89 a month. I think the list price was around $2400 for the 289 w/ 4 speed.

I'm not quite that old. However I do remember when the weather man had a magic marker and actually drew all the little weather lines and things on a map.

I also remember when local anchors, and even the national guys, had lit cigarettes next to them.

I remember when I was 9 or 10 years old and I would accompany my parents to a bar. I would take sips of beer, play pool and commiserate with the drunks and there wasn't a do-gooder busybody going apoplectic and screaming about calling child services.

I remember all that. It seems worlds away if you find any You Tube vids of the era for talk shows. Everyone smoking and having a drink. The only place I've been where I've seen kids in a bar was living in Texas. It was legal.

Hull Dobbs was in Memphis too. $2400 was about what they cost. Got mine in 74. Sad to say it had the straight 6 & 3 n the floor. Threw a piston rod thru block. Sold it & got a 69 Rambler Scrambler then a 68 GTO.

Not mine but what the Rambler looked like

Odd enough, I like those Ramblers. Like the Javelin, too. I traded the 'Stang for a '66 Nova w/ 327/375 hp. Big jump up in power. I had a '65 Goat in the later 60's. Buddy of mine had the 69 Judge. I like the 68 body style but the 65 is my favorite.
