TN has the third longest active win streak in the nation at 6 straight wins. Thus, at some point in 2016 we could take this crown as well if we keep winning.

Alabama - 12
Wins: Louisiana-Monroe, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State, Charleston Southern, Auburn, Florida, Michigan State, Clemson

San Diego State - 10
Wins: Fresno State, Hawaii, San Jose State, Utah State, Colorado State, Wyoming, UNLV, Nevada, Air Force, Cincinnati

Tennessee - 6
Wins: Kentucky, South Carolina, North Texas, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Northwestern

Alabama now has the nation's longest active college football winning streak (at the FBS level) with 12 victories in a row. The Crimson Tide last lost to Ole Miss in the third game of the 2015 season but have since remained perfect.

Only one other team in the country joins Alabama with a double-digit winning streak, the San Diego State Aztecs. The Aztecs have ripped off 10 straight wins, including a Mountain West title game victory over Air Force and a Hawai'i Bowl defeat of Cincinnati.

Longest Active College Football Winning Streaks Heading Into 2016-17 -

If SD State and Bama lose early in the season, we may hold this title during 2016.

If the two teams ahead of you lose before you do, then you will be no. 1? Why didn't I think of that!!!

In addition to building on this positive streak and potentially holding the national crown of longest active win streak in the nation, we have a chance to break a number of negative streaks this season. There is some great data from MrMax86's thread from last fall he linked above. Here are the potential streaks we can break this year (from MrMax86's thread).

Losses vs. Auburn - 6...Last win: 24-0 10/2/99 @ Neyland
Losses vs. LSU - 4...Last win: 30-27 OT 9/26/05 @ Baton Rouge

Losses vs. SEC West Teams - 10...Last win: 52-14 over Ole Miss 11/13/10 @Neyland

Losses vs. Top 10 teams - 24...Last win: #10 UGA 51-33 10/7/06 @ Sanford Stadium
Losses vs. Top 5 teams - 13...Last win: #3 LSU 30-27 OT 9/26/05 @ Baton Rouge

Last time we were 3-0...2004, with wins over UNLV, UF & Louisiana Tech

Obviously, in order to end the streak against LSU or Auburn we would need to face one of them in the SEC title game. I think a TN v. LSU game in Atlanta is likely.

The Dooley stench has finally cleared the room it appears.

Edit: Looking over our list of wins and seeing a pretty unimpressive list until Northwestern. Just didn't want us too happy in here. :)

When we handle our business there's a few things we can take care:
SECe Champions
SEC Champions
NC
Some trophies for individuals.
Longest winning streak
Start a winning streak on Florida and Bama.

I need help on this next one, what has to happen for us to get the College Football Belt, right now TCU has the Belt.

2016 so far so good, JRM said something like, we haven't done anything yet.

Straight to the moon Vols.

I never knew about "The Belt" but looked it up after your post. Pretty interesting. It essentially is like boxing and travels around to whoever beats the team with the belt currently. TCU has it so who ever beats them first this year will then carry it and then who ever next beats that team will have it, etc.

How is a streak of WINS equate to a reference to "Moral Victory U"?

Wrong thread.

This thread appears to be touting our "3rd longest active win streak". Here are the facts of said streak....

6 game win streak vs ....

-4 bottom feeder SEC teams (Ky, SCar, Mizz, Vandy) who's combined record was 17-31

-1 awful 1-11 North Texas team

-a badly undermanned Northwestern team

-Combined win % of the 6 teams .383, which is skewed by NW's misleading 10-3 record

Compare the 6 game win streak to our 1-4 record vs the 5 best teams from our 2015 schedule, whose combined record was 54-15 (.782)

Moral Victory U? I think it is.

TCU plays the hogs on 9-10 hogs take the belt.

A&M plays the hogs on 9-24, Aggies take the belt.

We drum A&M on 10-8 take the belt.

Vols hold the belt for an extended period of time.

Jump higher Vols.

In my 43 years I've never heard of the College Football Belt. Very interesting. I'm glad it's still going.

I don't think we have gone unbeaten out of conference since 2011 so there is that streak we could break also!

We have a pretty impressive streak of not winning the Heisman as well. Seems like we have a couple players capable of being considered. Been a while since we could say that.

Too be fair I think Northwestern would have had a very good chance to beat UF(with Treon), Arkansas, and Georgia last year. I have never understood why that win is discredited. I attribute it to "battered fan syndrome." In other words, just because UT smoked some team, then they must not have been that good. I say all this assuming that you meant OU, UF, Ark, Bama, and UGA as the five best teams we played. I would honestly add NU as the fourth or fifth best team, if you add them to that list of teams, from last year.

KB, you seem to be thinking on the negative side here. :) A 6 game win streak can't be counted as a moral victory because we actually won the games. A moral victory is, by definition, finding a positive or victory in defeat. No defeat = no moral victory.
