3rd and Chavis becomes 3rd and Wilcox

Congrats on your lack of knowledge. Wilcox tried a different scheme almost every 3rd and long. He knows more than you, sit back down in your armchair.

wow.
read the entire post...I stated exactly what Dooley said..
I am glad you know more than the head coach about what the Defense is doing.
here it is again for the mentally challenged:ermm:

he mentioned specifically 3rd down and playing behind the chains and changing SCHEMES on 3rd down.
He mentioned numerous times in the show there is another 3rd down..we have to get off field...
:clapping::clapping::clapping:

I was at the game. Wilcox ran tons of different schemes to try and slow down UF on 3rd down. The only thing he didn't try was sending out 12 men in hopes of stopping them. Dooley is just using coach speak.

How is our defense going to be better next year when we lose: Chris Walker, Gerald Williams, Nick Reviez, Lamarcus Thompson, Savion Frazier, & Victor Thomas?? Man, we need to get about 2 JC DT's and about 2 JC LB's for next year....

Don't disagree with you at all. This is a long, arduous road we're on.

to those that called me an idiot.
I guess you think Dooley is an idiot as well.. Watch his show.

just like i said.
congrats on your knowledge

I don't think you're an idiot (not that you're addressing me personally with this post), I just think it's a bit shortsighted to draw this comparison three games into Wilcox's tenure here. The differences in:

(a) time to implement schemes, and
(b) players to execute said schemes

between Wilcox and Chavis are obvious. There's no denying that 3rd down D must improve drastically, it's just extremely premature to make this comparison.

“Third-down and red area, those are the two things that are really hurting us,” Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley said. “We’ve been pretty good on third-and-6 or less when you look at it statistically but third-and-7 or above, we’ve been atrocious. We need to get better on third-and-7 and above and that’s what we’re working on. In the red area, we have to hold them to field goals and we haven’t done that on defense.

breaking news right there. Once ol' Art loses his starting job to Teague I bet we get considerably better on 3rd and long. Teague seems to be really good at reading routes and jumping them.

I just think when we get some good players in these have a few more under there belt they will be better. Anyone agree

maddux I agree to a point but even Dooley has stated many times that the schemes or strategy on 3rd and long were not working...therefore they are changing
