I'm not a huge 3-3-5 fan for SEC play. But, any defense with solid fundamentals, good schemes, solid tackling, and pressure on the QB will always succeed.
3-3-5 is perfect for a 3rd and long, but a first and ten on the fifty gives linemen a better chance getting to the LB's on a run play. To run a 3-3-5 effectively against the run, you have got to have a monster at NT and in the DE positions. Almost Cody-Esq at the NT for sure.
I like the 3-3-5. Seeing as it will be hard for us to get 2 great defensive tackles with all the parody and everyone else wants the elite DTs too. I like compensating with more speed across the field. Big linebackers are crucial in this defense though. that is something that is being addressed. Crump, Johnson, Maggitt gonna be some big boys running around.
3-4? This is joke, right? I heard we are gonna run significant amount of Nickle, which we already did last year. I have no idea how much knowledge and experience our coaching staff have with 3-4 to implement it as our base defense, let alone we wouldn't have the personnel to do it.
