Old/New money may be more true about day students than boarding students. I have no idea about the Baylor coeds.I always heard it as:
McCallie = Old Money
Baylor = New Money
To the extent there's any truth in the politeness stereotype, it would probably be due to McCallie's continued emphasis on Christian virtues attracting families for whom that's important. Credit to diligent moms and dads.
It's a great rivalry which, after graduation, tends to become a positive bond between former opponents. Historically, it generates its own brotherhood. Every McCallie boy who sacks or intercepts Marshall will likely become a friend or fan for life. All good!
