3 things i learned in Atlanta

3. The closeness of the team (no homo). They seem like a big family. It was good to see the comradery between players. imo without comradery no team can reach its true potential.

p.s. Sitting in hotel room trying not to go crazy. Anybody know a good place to waste a few hours in ATL?

Having said that I lived there 5 years and enjoyed my time, but was ready to move back to Knoxville.

In the end, we are all humans. Im not sure about the racial makeup of Atlanta, although it wouldnt be hard to find out if it was, in fact, important to me. I am a white male with several "African American" friends (Reason for the quotes there is because most of my friends prefer to be called black). One thing about race I have learned in my short 28 yrs is that there are good and bad people, being good or bad has nothing to do with race, ethnicity, or religion...

Walk over to the Hooters on Peachtree Street across from the Westin. There is a great front porch, and you can drink a beer while watching all the nerds run around in costume for DragonCon. It's a spectacle right now.

Or, in other words, since it is 3/5 black, it is a crap hole.

College Park is nice, also might I suggest East Cobb.. possibly Decatur if you have the time.

2. D.B.A. Barbecue - Va. Highlands (the North end)
3. My house

I've been wanting to try Bone Lick over in West Midtown. They're getting good reviews, and they have skee-ball.

Edit: Daddy D'z is pretty solid if you like you brisket fatty. Plus, they have live blues.

I'm not a big Fat Matt's fan. If you want ribs, I had some really decent ones at The Local on Ponce de Leon. That was a while ago though.

We have one of those in Knoxville. Brazzerio's Brazilian Steakhouse. That's some good shiz right there. Good call.

Americans need to move back to cities and quit the pathetic suburbs, where people live their lives in shopping centers, driving around and getting fat. That is why Europe and even Asia are cool--middle and upper-middle and upper-income people live in the cities--which offer culture and history and convenience--and those with less money live on the outskirts. In America the reverse is mostly true--except for NYC and Chicago (to an extent) and Portland--and one reason the country has gone to crap. But yes, we do have a lot of chain restaurants.
