3 more losses

It's leaky not gushing bad. 20 sacks and 4 TD's is not what a terrible defense does. They need to get a little tougher nobody thought they were going to be better than last year and they are not. It's a shoot-out season.

The talking heads are partly to blame for this by saying “well the defense should be just as good, but the offense may struggle” ever since Nico left. Now that it’s the other way around people complain. If the offense was stagnant then they would “suck”. Defense could be better but they won the game today. 5 sacks and 14 points got the job done.

I dont know about you, but I put zero faith in what the talking heads have to say. I thought the defense would be solid, and it looks weak.

I see three more losses on our schedule and that’s assuming we pull this game out today. Our defense is atrocious and we can’t run the ball as well as last season which will make our offense one dimensional. 8-4 is what this team is and will be at the end of the season. Heup needs to get a new DC and S&C coach too and we gotta get bigger D-Linemen asap on the defense.
Hold up!

Weird way to say “ Tennessee grinded out a win on the road against a better than advertised opponent “ but got go off I guess

Bama and UF on the road will be tough games to win.

If we can split those . . . And get lucky with the injury to the Oklahoma QB . . . And avoid an upset against a very improved Vandy team, we could finish 10-2.

I think if we play well we could beat UF. Bama will be a tough one to win.
I’m seeing the bama game as a pure shootout type of game . Whoever can make
Big play on defense will win . Going say it will be prime time slot at
Night ABC

Why do some of you guys and gals even watch the games? You find nothing to be excited about. I was up and down with the game myself, ready to turn it off and play Xbox instead. I actually did once, but left the radio on. Honestly, if you can't find a way to be happy with a hard fought win ON THE ROAD in a hostile environment
Did the offense struggle at times, absolutely! They also had 5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, a pick 6, and a scoop and score.
Did the offense struggle, absolutely! They struggled to run the ball all night, except the 25 yard thing of beauty to WIN the game. Did Joey Aguilar look human with 1 TD and TWO interceptions? Yep. But he had one sure fire long bomb TD dropped by Mathews, and another to Brazzel that was called back on a phantom OPI.
Was clock management still an issue, Absolutely! These are things that can be fixed.
BOTTOM LINE: WE WON THE GAME AGAINST AN UNDEFEATED SEC TEAM ON THE ROAD! I know, I know, the poor gamblers lost their bets because we only won by 7, but that addiction can be kicked just like I kicked smoking a decade ago. If you can't enjoy the games, then for your physical and mental well-being, please find something else to do on game day.

If we get some of our starters back it should make a huge difference on defense. Tim Banks is the reason we got to the playoffs last year when our offense could not score

I kept trying to understand what people saw in these running backs. I don’t get it. There is no one close to Sampson.
The O-line is playing lights out!
The holes are there, these backs are not always hitting them.
Plenty of times there will be a huge hole on the left and the back will cut right. Outside will be contained perfectly and the back cuts it inside.
The reads are not there and I think these backs lack vision, at this point.
If Sampson had this O-line last year...

I had us with 7 wins being the most likely total. Getting past MSU as the stinker game, I'm guardedly optimistic that we can claw our way to 8 wins. Given the way things went with Nico and injuries, I didn't think we'd have a shot at that to be honest. Still, I still worry there's a Heupel stinker still out there waiting to strike kinda like that copperhead in the brush. Where that UK game sits has me eyeballing them as a possibility.

The timing, the precision and consistent execution that you see with the elite college teams and playoff regulars just isn't within reach of Heupel and a coaching philosophy which triggers mistakes, errors and puts players in bad positions on the field. He has recruited talent in certain positions and seems to make do in others, but top shelf skill set for the QB position remains a mystery, Aguillar fell into his lap over the spring/summer, but not sure what the plans are there. Aguillar may have a little Claussen in him, he plays hard.

I said 9-3 before the season started and I still say that. We are not a playoff team on defense. This is completely on this staff for not recruiting better on that side of the ball.
Yeah that UGA team that won 26-22 in CoMo in 2022 they weren't good enough either I guess.

Or the OSU team that lost to a 7-5 Michigan last year at home and then won a natty. Remember how stupid their fans were being about Michigan...hell how stupid we were being about it? I'm sure their fans are happy for the natty that they ran us and Oregon over to get to.

It's a long season and you don't have to go 12-0 to get into the playoffs. A road win in the SEC shouldn't be overblown and I will be the first to admit I underestimated state.

I'd hit the portal for an experience/proven QB, but Heupel won't do that. I think he's going to ride with his room as it stands. When the dust settles, I think it's going to be GMac early on. Will be his job to lose. Can Brandon be the exception to the 5 star freshman struggles? Dunno, but I'd almost be the farm that Merklinger won't be on the roster. Maybe Heupel can go get a serviceable experienced guy from the lower levels as insurance? Dunno. Gonna be interesting to watch.

I nominate this thread to go IMMEDIATELY to the "Threads Hall of Fame"😂😂😂. Just when you think you've heard it all.... joyfully we are surprised!

Merklinger is definitely not the guy. He will transfer
