3-4 or a 4-3 Defense?

Should Chavis use a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense next season?

UT hasn't run many zone blitzes, and you won't agree with me because I have no examples mostly because they don't do it very much.

We didn't do it much last year because of our attrition on the d-line, but it's actually something we have done more of in the past few years.

Have we done it enough for you to honestly say we "usually" run zone blitzes? I don't know a single college of NFL team that "usually" runs zone blitzes

I agree - ususally is probably an exaggeration. You see it moreso in the NFL obviously with some of those freakish DE's.

Then tell me about the MLB Zone Blitz With a Nose Tackle Twist on the Rocks

The NT occupied the center and the Mike came free and hammered the QB as he threw to his hot read while the DE started salivating because he knew he was going to have to fend off the women after ESPN showed the highlight of the Pick 6 he was about to get.

The only reason I brought this up was Chavis mentioned going to a 3-4 in spring practice. I think it puts the best 7 athletes on the field with a good second team to play half of the game.

After Mapu and Bolden in a 4-3 there isn't a lot of experienced, proven players. I don't think either of the DT's UT recruited are ready play half the game as a DT in the SEC.

Martin as a OLB/pash rusher in a 3-4 and Donald as a LB would give them an opportunity to play more. Donald was #18, and Martin was #20 in rivals top 100 players. I can't remember the last time UT had 3 players in the top 20 of the rivals 100. I would like to see those 2 along with Berry get an opportunity to play immediately.
