Figured I would start a thread specifically for lineup predictions for next season as we see more portal commits and see which HS guys make it to campus.

This is my best guess at it with our current roster: (assuming all potential MLB guys go)

Lineup
C - Lawless
1B - Grimmer
2B - Antigua
SS- Marin
3B - Newstrom
LF - Clark
CF - Abernathy
RF - Wright (Transfer)
DH - Myatt (Transfer)

Rotation
Fri - Kuhns
Sat - Seibert
Sun - Krenzel

Bullpen
Edmondson (Transfer), Rhudy (Transfer), Breedlove, Combs, Behnke, Sharman, Payne, Wiggins, Strickland, May

Notes: Need to stock up on LHPs, proven bullpen arms, and a few more bats (Robbins from Seton Hall & Advincula from Cal would provide some much-needed depth). A left-handed starting pitcher would also help a ton.

Too soon to say. I expect 2 transfers to be weekend starters. I don’t think Antigua starts. I think Wright starts at catcher.

That lineup would be sub .500 SEC record....AA is a below .200 BA in SEC play...

This year? Yes. But we have no idea how much those guys will develop. Grimmer, Abernathy, Clark, Newstrom, and Kuhns should all make a jump. How much, we don’t know.

Regardless, that won’t be the lineup. We will add guys from the portal. And there’s usually a freshman or two who is ready to start or heavily contribute.

Definitely. This will be a great point of reference with who we assume to be returning before we re-load with more talent.

He hasn’t made it through a fall practice without getting injured. My hope is he can go injury free this fall and see how he develops.
I'm not sure that his bat has ever been the same since he had that wrist injury the fall of his freshman year.

Talking about the lineup for 2026, you have 3 lh bats, Grimmer, Abernathy, and Myatt, at least 2 of those gotta be in lineup. If Ford plays 1b, then Grimmer has to play 3rd or DH, which puts Newstrom in the of, with Clark , Wright,Abernathy and Newman- some things to think about

We don’t have a 2B. Maybe Newstrom is 2B and Grimmer is 3B.

Of course, all of this is without knowing who else we land from the portal.

I am still curious on if Newman starts from day 1. Seen some lineups with him leading off and playing CF. Haven't seen enough of him to know if the hitting talent level is there with being injured last year and pitching as the Friday guy for Bowling Green.

I think this staff is really hoping to land the Cal transfer and play him at second as another left-handed bat. Also could have Myatt there but he could be mainly DH. I feel like Grimmer has to get everyday reps next year to see his potential which at this point makes me think they would play him at 1st and if Ford makes it to campus he plays RF. It is a good problem to have but positions will get tight fast with some upcoming freshman added to the mix.
