25:1 SEC Preseason odds

looks like I'm gonna have to come out of retirement and put a bet down...I like those odds...:)

GO VOLS!

I agree. That was what I found out of line (PUN: The line was out of line) when I posted it. 25:1 qualifies as a major upset and I don't think it would be a major upset. Winning the SEC would be a mild surprise and that's a shame. It should be the norm!

You don't think it would be a major upset if UT won the SEC this year? I hope you're correct.

Yes, it would be a major upset. Last year it would've been an upset to beat Alabama for the SEC when we were the odds on favorite to win the East. If we were to win it this year, while predicted to be 3rd in the East, it would indeed be a major upset.

It may be semantics but a major upset would be Vandy or Misery winning the SEC this year. It will be a surprise when any east team wins it in Atlanta in December. It will be a change to see Auburn there instead of 'bama. Both LSU and 'bama have to play the BIG ORANGE this year so Auburn will have a 2 win cushion! I don't see UGA, Florriduh, LSU, or UT as major upsets. Surprises? of course.

I don't understand the love for Georgia. They lost at home last year to Tennessee and Vandy. They play at Tennessee and Auburn. The current FPI has them losing to both of those teams. Based on the FPI, Florida will win the East (only loss predicted to Georgia). And Tennessee because they play both Alabama and LSU ends up third.

Yes things will probably change as the season progresses - but the three teams (GA, FL and TN) really should all be close in terms of the prediction. I think the TN odds are what they are not because of perception but because of the games with Alabama and LSU.

The bigger upset will be that GA and FL lose to teams that most think they will beat.

GA has Auburn and MSU from the west.
FL has LSU and A&M from the west.
TN has LSU and Bama from the west.

Most predictions seems to favor TN over GA, FL over TN and GA over Fl. That = deadlock.

Most predict TN to lose to LSU and Bama and FL/GA to win one against the west teams, which is why TN is predicted third.

The 25:1 is for the SEC...not the SEC East.
