Just went 8-0 and now have started dropping games year 3. Getting beat down by ky at home has a butch feel to it. Also rumors of firing coaches on the field isn't a good look. Keep your head in the sand and keep pumping that shine as we win 3 games this year.Really?
We started off 5-0 that year? Maybe 2015 you meant?
My problem with Pruitt is that he views the QB position the same us the other positions on the field.I have and I’m no less pissed. I’m beginning to think Pruitt is a cancer because his pride won’t allow him to accept that he doesn’t know what he thinks he does. If he doesn’t learn quickly to let his coaches do THEIR jobs, he’ll be looking himself before he knows it. I think VN is the most powerful fan base in the country and I can see he done pissed it off.
In hindsight, it would have been a good idea to rep other QBs with the first-team offense before Oct 20th. Additionally, it might also be a good idea to know what plays each QB can execute competently so if they have to come in at a moment's notice, they aren't thrown to the wolves.
It looks like the same old lack of preparation by Pruitt. We saw it in year 1. We saw it in year 2. We are seeing it in year 3. Do better, CJP.
I've hunted quite a bit in Missouri. Like it alot. Was going to do stuff around the house here on Saturday but it's supposed to snow all day and have high winds. Guess I'll be forced to watch the massacre on TV. You north or south of 70?If you want to post an email quick and then take it down when I respond... I'll send you more info.
The state is Missouri.
North of Columbia. Moved here from Sedalia and lived in Chariton County before that.I've hunted quite a bit in Missouri. Like it alot. I would struggle but could accept a 3 or 4 win season if the rest of the year were used to establish the '21 QB and play/coach up the young guys who will need to play.
I buy Pruitt's argument that Covid has hurt them more than most. That seems to be true. That makes playing for the future all the more relevant IMO.
Agree. But I think trust is bigger than emotion. You have to believe in each other. They may say the right things but I'm not sure how JG's teammates can truly believe in him to make plays for them. The Alabama game should be used to start defining who will be the future starting QB. I would like to see them give the ball to all 3 understudies for a minimum of 2 series with the understanding that the better you play the more you play. Most of us will be looking at who throws it the best and maybe makes a play when thinks break down but management of the game is important. Taking a delay of game panalty on 3rd and less than one might get you benched quicker than missing a throw. I don't get the idea that you don't want to try this against an opponent like Alabama. Why? Bama is the gold standard, If you can execute the offense against them then you can play with anyone.
Final thought, if one of these younger guys can come in and make plays and sustain drives and be "the man" watch what happens to the rest of the team. Football is an emotional game and nothing gives you the fuel for that more than seeing the leader(s) of your team making plays, especially if a play really wasn't there. Conversely nothing takes that energy quicker than seeing the same leaders making knucklehead plays.
I can't agree. Pruitt seems to load up on DBs every year. QBs...passing thought then decides to just stick with JG and two of his own recruited QBs that he's scared to play in a game. No jucos, no grad transfers....nothing. Status quo. Don't see that at any other position. My problem with Pruitt is that he views the QB position the same us the other positions on the field.
I get your point but Pruitt also says he plays whoever plays the best during practice. Remember JG is practice champion.I can't agree. Pruitt seems to load up on DBs every year. I think we all know it is time. Honestly, what Pruitt is doing to JG is tough to watch. I know that JG has experience, but his game film shows us an inconsistent QB and one that will make really dumb mistakes. JG is an outstanding young man, and Vol fans should appreciate what he has been willing to go through for us. That being said, to continue to run JG out on the field in front of a fan base that is ready to move on puts him in a place to be overly criticized everywhere you turn. Right or wrong, college fan bases will bash a player's performance at this level. Pruitt should think about that. Some other toughts:
1) You go with the experienced QB over a young one because you think they will manage the game and protect the ball. JG is making mistakes. If He is going to make these mistakes, you might as well let a young QB make them...it will be at least a little more palatable.
2) The 1994 TN/AL game is on TV right now and it was the Manning/Stewart game where they were taking over the reigns. At one point the announcer said "starting these two freshman now may be a blessing in disguise for Phillip Fulmer...now he can see what these two freshman can do and can develop who will be his quarterback next year." Not exact phrasing because I don't remember.
3)The argument about putting one of these young QB's out against Alabama could hurt their psyche. IMO If taking a beating vs. Alabama ruins a kid, there probably wasn't much that was going to happen with that kid anyway. I see BM and HB as two guys with a strong enough ego to bounce back. Also going back to this 1994 Alabama game we went into the half with Peyton Manning 2/5 for 22 yds and 2 Int's. I think he bounced back and did alright.
I believe BM is injured because if he were healthy we would have seen him. I think HB is the only viable option to JG.Agree. But I think trust is bigger than emotion. You have to believe in each other. They may say the right things but I'm not sure how JG's teammates can truly believe in him to make plays for them.
I know it is not my call.. but I think I would start Maurer or HB and give them both time in the 1st qtr then go with the "hot hand".
JG isn't it. I think Shrout needs to have a reliable grasp on the plays he runs before he gets out there again. According to Pruitt, he forgot to send a guy in motion on that pick which contributed to the failure.
