In answering a QB question, Pruitt has to say he’s considering other guys. He can’t say that JG has taken all the reps and he’ll start no matter what. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pruitt start JG against Bama.
I am glad to hear Pruitt is working all 4 guys in practice now. That’s progress.
I'm going to have to disagree about BM and maybe JT. There's not a big enough sample size. Look at Kyle Trask as just one example.Maurer and Shrout neither one are SEC QBs. We know JG is not. The only one who may be the caliber of QB to play in the SEC is HB. We have a youngster coming in next year that is supposed to be a good dual QB so Maurer and Shrout have been recruited over twice now. This season the staff needs to go ahead get JG out of their system with a Bama start and when he screws the pooch pull him and let HB take it the rest of the year. But stop the Maurer nonsense, he ain't it and he ain't got it either.
QB recruiting doesn't work like that. You recruit the best guy every year and don't worry about the feelings of the current crop. Heck I would argue that you do that every position. The difference is what expectations you set with players.Maurer and Shrout neither one are SEC QBs. We know JG is not. The only one who may be the caliber of QB to play in the SEC is HB. I just thought of something that you should take into consideration before assuming that they all have a fair opportunity to unseat JG.You know this for a fact? No you dont. Fact is none of the QBs have beaten JG out.
On the quarterback position:
Pruitt: “The same way we manage the nose guard and the linebacker and the free safety and the kicker and everybody else. You practice during the week and the guys that earn the opportunity to play on Saturdays play.”
Go look at JGs high school stats and tell me why he even got a D1 offerShrout got one SEC offer, us. J.T. Shrout - Football Recruiting - Player Profiles - ESPN
Your point?Maurer got two SEC offers, us and T A&M. Brian Maurer Recruit Interests
He got an Ohio state offer tooMaurer got two SEC offers, us and T A&M. Brian Maurer Recruit Interests

Something I find odd with 247. Thier last evaluation of Brian was 7/31/18....where did that fall in his senior season???He had some good offers. Most teams didn't really notice him till late in his Senior season and by that point, he was firmly committed here. Also worth noting that a lot of his G5 offers came from programs that have a track record of finding overlooked talent (App State, UCF, Troy), as well as one from Lane Kiffin at FAU.
Not that it matters. Kyle Trask had exactly 1 P5 offer (Florida) and Aarron Rodgers' best offer out of high school was Butte Community College. With QBs, plenty of 5-star busts and 2-star heroes.
Maurer was definitely underrated as a recruit, because the program he came from wasn't very good.
