24 team playoff

I would prefer 8 but I know money wins out and will go to 16. I definitely believe the Championship game should be around Jan 1st like in the past instead of mid January. This will help with declaring for the portal. Makes it easier for kids to transfer before the new semester starts and give coaches more time to evaluate their team needs. The regular season can end a week earlier and stop the long layoffs for the teams between season end and their playoff games.

Only conference champion make playoff, that way every game during the season is a playoff game.
Sounds good but how do you determine a true conference champion in a 16 team conference and the half the teams don’t play each other?

Apparently this is what the BIg10 is wanting and I think it's straight up ret***ed. I can see 16 teams, just because of having automatic bids and a top 10-15 team with a legitimate chance getting left out, but beyond that there's probably less than a 1% chance teams ranked beyond that have any chance of winning without a ton of luck.

The conferences get paid for each team they get in the playoffs so yeah, they'd be happy if it's a bigger tournament.

Follow the money. The bottom line will be if a bigger tournament can turn a profit for ESPN/Fox without fan fatigue from the blowouts and an extra week or two or three.

Just go to a number like 16 or 8 and do away with the byes. The 24 is just to keep what, 8 byes? If you really want to go greater than 24, go to 32, disconnect from the bowl games and eliminate conference championship games.

Face it, anything outside of the playoffs is hot garbage. I won't be surprised if the powers that be kick it up to 18 teams and it's not inconceivable for it to be 24 teams. I would still expect that 1'st round prospects would opt out because there's no advantage for them to play a series of games with an increasingly more difficult opponent. And if they continue to favor the f#####g Irish, they should make those clowns play the 1'st ranked team to START.
The one thing that would help is some of the "Lesser Bowl" games would have a reason to draw some fans. I hate watching a game where the stadium is about 20% filled.

Too many. 16 like FCS is the way to go.

College football is not basketball. The added games is too tough on players in football. , we already have too many games now. The NC should go to the best team, not the team who suffers the fewest injuries
I'd agree but look at the NFL. It's a 17 game regular season with up to 4 playoff games. I don't believe a few more games makes much of a difference

Take the playoffs back to 2 teams.

Anything more than 16 teams in a college football playoffs is absurd and everyone knows it except the money folks to figure out how to make a dollar. The thing is they don’t realize it’s a highly unpopular idea and it will totally blow up backfire if they try to expand beyond 16. Enjoy and promote what you got and quit this nonsense. Either go with 8 and quit giving automatic bids to lesser conferences, or go to 16 and have no bye’s. 16 plays 1 and on down the line. Either way that’s a winner, and if you’re 17th or 9th that’s just tough. It’s supposed to be tough, and that goes for my own Tennessee Vols as well. But the powers that be are more worried about how to maximize a dollar even if they water down a product. Well if they keep doing that they may very well drown themselves in their own water of greed. Top ways to ruin college football:

1. NIL with no cap

2. Transfer Portal with unlimited transfers and not having to sit out a year. (Also it should not open until after the season is entirely over)

3. Expanding the playoffs beyond eight teams and extending it into deep January
Add to the fact, you are now giving players the opportunity and means ($$$$$$) to sue NCAA and tie up the Courts with situational lawsuits.
