222 yards rushing against the Gators: 5.1 yards per carry

I sincerely doubt we want to "do like the Bucs did". They LOST....53-6. Florida had them 38-0 at halftime and played the second half with anyone and EVERYONE they had available to keep their starters off the field.
222 rushing yards..??? Half of that was 2 runs.
Oh no but if it was us everyone would be panicking.

This speaks volumes about the Gators:
  • CSU outgained the Gators 222-203 on the ground paced by Harris and Johnson's efforts.
  • The Bucs also held the 32:02-27:58 edge in time of possession in the game.
  • Neither team was able to convert on third down in the game. CSU was 3-of-14 (21.4%) on the field, while the Gators were 2-of-9 (22.2%).
  • Florida converted a fourth down opportunity on their opening drive which led to the first touchdown of the game.
  • The Bucs were held to nine first downs in the contest, while Florida picked up 25.

No. No it does not. It tells you nothing about their team. It was the first game of the year with a new coach, just like ours. It's truly amazing to me how much people read into any one game, MUCH LESS THE FIRST ONE, in any given year, much less with a new coach. You people do realize that we have 11 games remaining right? Quit being a bunch of weak babies, suck it up, and support your team. If ANY player on our team quit as much as half this board does after ANY loss we would never win a game. Try expressing some fortitude and constitution and cut out the pathetic whining and you may just gain some insight into yourself and your team.

tldr, calm your tits and quit being such a b*tch (this is meant for everyone on this board including myself)

There is nothing to be learned from that game. Nothing
BING-BING-BING-BING-BINGO! Each and every one of you who're deriving conclusions from a season opener is out of your friggin' league at having figured out a team's strengths and weaknesses. UT ran into an experienced, talented juggernaut with a bunch of fellas playing their first college team ever, and the gayduhs were playing a patsy and probably treated this one like a practice session. Both teams will improve in places and they'll likewise disappoint elsewhere. Nobody knows.........yet.

Florida will probably rush for 222 or more on us , so don’t start getting optimistic about the florduh game until there is 00:00 on the game clock

This is a perfect example of how numbers can be true and still lie like crazy. If you watched the game, this was not a struggle for FL.

Thoughts?
Kentucky was the better team last night andshowed a very good offense with good passing an running. They have lot of speed and strenght in the running game. They will have one of the best seasons they have had in the last 15-20 years. Their defense will be their weakest link and may cost them a couple of games against the better teams on their schedule. I hope we improve enough to beat them in November. It should be a good football game.

Just woke up and saw that Kentucky beat UF, in the Swamp, by more than 2 scores.
Wonder if Dan Mullen squirmed a little in his press conference a bit?

Buccaneers unable to keep pace with Gators in season opener
If we can’t do it like the bucs did against Florida, then something is terribly wrong. Mind boggling that the defense gave up 222 yards rushing? Please, let’s exploit that.

I'm sorry fellow-Vols fan, your post borders on irrelevancy. First off, you don't take into consideration the quality of the team Florida played. We just went up against a team that didn't exist a few years ago. How long has Florida's CSU opponent had a football team? How much conference championship experience does each time have, which does put some grit into teams and programs? What about the quality level of their in conference and out of conference opponents year by year? That's just a few things not accounted for. Things that will dictate how much of a fight they will put up against a P5 opponent, and sometimes either win or come dangerous lose to winning. ETSU and CSU (Bucs) do share, I think, common opponents not yet played, Gardner-Webb and Citadel. That would have provided some sense of comparative between the two and perhaps more accurately indicated how each would fare against Florida. And maybe what we should anticipate when we played Florida. But that reality doesn't exist now so speculating what a hyped up Gator team vs. the Vols will or should be like is sort of pointless. KY did beat the Gators and put up good stats to boot. Right now they look like they might at worst, 2nd place in the SEC-east at season end. Hopefully, UT will dash that expectation to pieces by blowing out Florida, mauling the Wildcats, messing up Missouri, and eating USCjr's lunch. We got the QBs, we got the WRs, we got the RBs, but without a relaible OL, we ain't going nowhere. The defence is just adequte enough for us to win if we can score against quality opponents in the lowe to mid-30's at least. But that OL, oh boy!

Thats gonna be tough.
Well i mean, Vanderbilt and kentucky have been in the same boat we have the past few years with Florida, close low scoring losses with either a coaching mistake or a late florida play or stop that wins the game. Kentucky had a chip on their shoulder from last year. We have a similar one and vanderbilt does too. Vanderbilt beat kirby in his first season. It can happen. If it wasnt for butchs mistakes last year leading to them having time for the hail mary, or the penalties that kentucky had last year that lost their game, florida would have been 2-9 last year.

Pretty sure he was referring to the fact you said Florida might lose to Florida. Lol.

Actually I'm gonna go on record saying we beat Florida. The negativity is awful

You realize I posted this before our game this week and watching progress, right? I have reasons now to be hopeful but we still need to see more for me to be confident in a possible win against Florida, if nothing else bc of our history with them.
