'22 TN PG Brian Edwards Jr. (BJ Edwards) (Tennessee commit)

Not how it works, that’s a one year deal…their year of eligibility didn’t count but they will count against the limit going forward.
Huh. My mistake. That’s dumb, if all players on the roster get an extra year that year should have the same rules applied to it for all of them
Regardless I don’t think getting four spots will be an issue

Talked to BJ Edwards tonight after he and his mother spent all day on campus with the team and coaching staff.

Edwards watched a practice, hung out in the locker room/lounge area for a few hours and got to see some different things on campus.

He told me that he spent virtually the entire day with Rick Barnes. The two obviously know each other and Edwards has been around the team quite a bit but this is the most one-on-one time he's had with the head coach by far and he clearly enjoyed. Edwards mother seems very comfortable around the coaching staff and it seems fair to reason that she'd like to see her son stay close when there's such a high quality hometown option.

Des Oliver had been Edwards' lead recruiter before taking the ETSU job but he said that he and new assistant Rod Clark had very quickly developed a good relationship.

Edwards also has good relationships with a lot of the current guys on the team as a result of playing pick-up with them many, many times over the years.

He's going to Wake Forest next week and is going to set up visits with Virginia Tech and Florida before returning to Tennessee for an official at the end of the month.

It also sounds like this one won't even go into the fall. Edwards said that he may wrap things up and make a decision after his AAU season ends in July.

At this point I'd be shocked if Edwards doesn't end up in Orange.

Ideally we can get Edwards and 1 more (Mitchell?) in the boat by end of July…that would allow us to bring in 2022 guys for officials come August/September and hopefully line them up with visits from Edwards & Mitchell.

Do you think getting a big is a priority for this class or do you think if Edwards, Mitchell, Wallace, and JHS were committed they would just take those 4 and be fine with no true big.

I don’t think they’re just taking 4 in this class, for fall probably, but they’d add more in spring…getting a big is definitely a priority.

Any basketball prospects going to be taking official visits this weekend and go to Lindsey Nelson for the baseball games?

Pretty sure they are not banned from going inside if they so choose to. Maybe they cannot be escorted in, but I think (hope) they can choose to go.
I'm sure they can go if they can find tickets, but they apparently cannot attend as a part of the university AD benefits provided during their visit. The assumed reason being is that it is a postseason event that not all schools can offer to prospective athletes. Just a dumb rule.
