OK! I’ve had enough! These morons who vote the polls don’t have to know anything about the teams they are voting for! If the VOLS WERE PLAYING ANY OF THE TWENTY OR SO TEAMS THEY ARE RANKED BEHIND, HOW MANY WOULD THEY HAVE TO GIVE POINTS TO GET ANYONE TO BET AGAINST THEM? I WOULD SAY VOLS WOULD BE FAVORED AGAINST OVER HALF OF THESE HIGHER RANKED TEAMS!

It’s understandable why coaches wont vote for Heupel—they would rather not ever see his name on any ballot. But these stupid sports writers don’t have to play him so why they against him too? I saw very few teams over the weekend that would be a heavy favorite against the Vols but these who vote must have gone to the lake or golf course cause they sure didn’t watch the football games I watched!

It's also confirmation bias. They already had South Carolina at #13 in the preseason and they are a very trendy pick to make some noise this year. LaNorris Sellers is one of the few returning QBs who was also good last year, and has a flair for the dramatic.

Polls legit mean nothing this early. Although seriously this first poll is laughable. VT was what 6/7 last year. Syracuse was 10/3. If you are going to do your pre season ranking based on prior year you have to take that into account after week 1 right? I guess that only counts if you are Bama.

Confirmation bias is the #1 driver of every poll before October.

It's absurd and heavily driven by TV ratings. Lanorris Sellers is marketable and someone they can continue to hype for what may end up being top 5 matchup w/ LSU in October.

Yes, I am sure they are positioning teams to create top matches based on rankings. If Florida wins next week and there is any way they will push them at least to 10 to create a top 10 matchup at LSU. And you can bet they are hoping for LSU to keep winning along with South Carolina sailing to 5-0 so they have another big game.

Got to sell that advertisement.

It's the narrative. They really didn't even look that good. But they have a "dynamic" QB so clearly they are a top 10 team.

It will get settled. SCAR still has to play Bama (lol), @Mizz (double LOL), @ LSU, @Ole Miss, @A&M, and has OU in there somewhere.

Maybe a 9-3 team. Where they have a few good players, they have a lot of holes elsewhere in the roster. A better team will punish them.
