Hey guys, not a Volunteers fan but I do have a #21 jersey and it has a patch on it celebrating the University of Tennessee's 200th Anniversary from 1794-1994.

I thought it was a Shuler jersey until I saw the patch so am asking the Volunteer faithful if anyone here knows who wore #21 in 1994.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't know why but it's been bugging me for years. :-D

if it was 94, according to this list i found its a player named:

maurice staley....

The Checkerboard - Tennessee Football Rosters 1990-1994

i'd think it was a shuler jersey though with being drafted high that very year and not knowing who this other guy is, like how i think some 16 jerseys were still made the season following manning being drafted

You are right he was already gone in 94. 93 was his last year. He got drafted in 94.

I know. I'm a Redskins fan. I wanted the jersey because I THOUGHT it was him but realized when I saw the patch it was someone else because it was from the year after he left.

I'm sure Shuler is thought off differently in Volunteer lore than Redskins lore. lol

Heath is one of my all time favorite Vols of all time. He was very exciting. I really think he could have made in the NFL. The skins wanted him to be a drop back passer and with the hold out (by his agent) he really was not accepted. I think he would have done much better running a west coast offense.

maurice staley?

That's what it's looking like so far.

I was going to donate it to Goodwill but if anyone here wants it, let me know in a day or two. All you would have to do is pay for shipping and handling.

I have just been really curious because it's almost impossible to find a Tennessee all-time roster on the internet.

That's what a lot of people say. But all I know is that he helped start a very depressing era in Redskins football.

i feel it could be either though...

it could have been an off-season "yay heath was a 4th pick" jersey which would have come out at the same time too....like as celebration

im just curious who staley was and if he was even good/active enough to get his jersey made for fans

Wow... I'm dumb... it has a Florida Citrus Bowl logo on the other shoulder and that game was played on 1/1/94... I didn't know teams made anniversary logos on the first day of the year....

So I guess it is Shuler???

Nope I believe it was a 31-14 loss to Penn State... was a sign of things to come for Mr. Congressman.

yeah my dad lost some money on him in what was maybe supposed to be a sure win for us or something, and that influenced all his later views of him :birgits_giggle:

Skins fans never got a good view of him, unfortunately. :realmad:

While I'm at it, I might as well plug the Skins site I write for, TheHogs.net

If anyone here is a Skins fan (however slim that chance may be)... I do a weekly article with starting defensive end Andre Carter called simply enough: "THN Weekly with Andre Carter."

Feel free to join our message boards as well if any of you are NFL fans in general.

P.S. Can anyone send a recruit or two to my Terps?:banghead2: We're getting spanked by Virginia 31-0.
