You have it right. The other poster was confused on how it works. In theory the coach knows the pool of available funds from both revenue sharing and donor based opportunities and has a say in the matter(s). But there is nothing stopping athletes from entering into private NIL deals of course, which they do.Who is "we"? If a sponsor wants to pay NIL money to a player they can, right? At least, subject to the new and as yet untested 3rd party review. But the school doesn't have the final say, correct? The school controls revenue sharing, but not NIL. And, theoretically, there is no reason why sponsors couldn't step up to pay every player on a team a million dollars. Or have I got this all wrong?

True they can, but most of the time it is to draw a player to a favored school. Sure they can have independent deals with no influence. I'm talking about the deals that influence recruiting. The AD usually can get money from contacts if they need it for any particular reason. I think Jones got her best deal from Clemson. When I say we I was saying we could've bid more if we had wanted to we didn't want to.Who is "we"? If a sponsor wants to pay NIL money to a player they can, right? I find it odd that she didn’t post her visit on instagram. She took unofficial visits to Kansas and Notre Dame after she visited Tennessee and posted both those visits. Wonder why she didn’t post her Tennessee visit?
Sorry to nitpick .... but it was 2008. Beat Stanford.Entirely possible that she was asked to be discreet. We get more negative recruiting that ANY team, which is crazy considering we haven’t won a natty since 2007.
May be trying to keep recruiting more private to avoid opposing coaches reaching out to them while they are on their visit or right after putting negative things in their ear.
People are truly scared of Tennessee rising back to the top of WBB. If we make that ascent with Kim at this age it’s going to be a looooong time before they can compete with Rocky Top![]()
If we can only buy one top player per year, we will be in business in 3 years, we can have 3 top players and build around them. The issue would be them not transferring. I remember I said it would take 5 years, looks like I was right. We'll be able to buy one top player have to figure out who we want. That is if we want a top ten player. If we want three or four in the 30 to 60 range sure we could get them. I really expect one big name player to sign with Tennessee don't know who that will be just believe were in position to get at least one. Other teams can't afford them all and neither can we, but we can go big on one for sure.
