While we're waiting for the imminent Hezekiah Harris and Tristian Keys flips to complete a Top 7 2026 class that further improves the talent on the roster, thought it would be interesting to start taking a look at the instate 2027 class. Good news is that it appears to be loaded, we appear to be in really good shape for quite a few of them already (despite two high level prospects being committed elsewhere, at least for now), and we've got numerous showcase home games for them to attend during what I believe will be another CFP season.
Here's the current 247 instate rankings:
We've already got LB JP Peace (Knoxville, the ultimate Vol legacy with his dad and grandfather) committed:
Callahan, when asked last night, specifically mentioned TE Malik Howard (#77 overall, Oak Ridge) and OT Princeton Uwaifo (#202 overall, Murfreesboro) as guys we're in good shape with:
By all accounts we're also in great shape for LB Omarii Sanders (#29 overall, FRA Nashville)
One would also assume we'll be a frontrunner for Vol legacy LB/S Kenneth Simon II (BA, Nashville)
QB Andre Adams (Antioch) is very talented and could be a solid pickup in between 5-stars in the 2026 class and likely 2028 class. He already has offers from Louisville, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Mississippi State, NC State, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and others:
Vols are likely strong contenders for RB Asa Barnes (Martin Westview) depending on what happens with other RBs
Thanks to @VolsFan5 added DB Miles Brown (Martin Westview), who the Vols appear to be in good shape with
Then there are the other guys who will also be national recruits, including WR Lawrence Britt (#20 overall, Memphis Lausanne); DL Jamarkus Pittman (#31 overall, Memphis, Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering, committed to Ole Miss); RB David Gabriel Georges (#47 overall, Chattanooga Baylor); and WR Kesean Bowman, (#48 overall, BA, Nashville, committed to Oregon)
There will inevitably be more instate offers and prospects emerging, but at this early stage the instate prospects could be a major part of another bigtime class in 2027.
