Off topic from Fermin but the more I watch Braeden Lue highlights, he reminds me so much of Maliq Brown at Duke. I think Barnes is going to love his defensive ability tbh

Don't need a low post scoring threat as long as he can dunk the ball. This season is going to be fun.

Really don't see a guy who averaged 4 and 3 in the A10 through four years playing 10+ minutes a game on a top 10 team. Maybe on a night where we're in foul trouble, but not consistently.

I seriously doubt none of the freshmen play at all and also doubt this guy plays 10 minutes a game.

I’m sure the freshman will get minutes but not sure any are consistent rotation members where they have a ballpark number that they reach each game, which is what I was trying to estimate there

Open to being wrong about Fremin, I like brown and Lue a lot but can also see Fremin getting time simply because he’s the only true center apart from Rubin

I've got a lot of VCU friends. Let's just say I hope Fermin outperforms their opinion of him. Maybe a year off is what he needed.

I think there were some perceptions about fit, and I don’t think they really thought that would change but former teammate Hill vouched to an extent so they brought him in. Obviously he showed what he needed to on his visit.

This was my first thought.. Heard on the radio today he also had “person issues” last year too. Might sound like a homer thing to say, but, if dollars were pounds, we might look back and call him the best pound for pound get yet. Jmo GB

I don’t think he’s talking about scoring. He doesn’t rebound either. 3+ seasons he averaged 4 and 3 for his career.

He seems to be in a situation similar to Awaka. Not enough shooting and skill for the four and not enough size and rim protection to be your starting 5 full time.

Brown has a lot more skill than Awaka, especially as a freshman IMO

So we have a full roster and to add an overseas piece one of the walk on players would have to leave the roster? I think that the other walk on is grandfathered in as an extra spot. Right?

Personally I think Brown may play exclusively at the 5 unless we have to match up against monster lineups. Anticipating Haralson and Lue play primarily at the 4. Haralson could swing a bit at the 3 but doubt it would be for more than 5 minutes per game. Our perimeter / wing depth is ridiculous but all these high-level portal additions (Harris, Hill, Ames, Lundblade) are going to get the bulk if not all those minutes.

Unless they foul out, that’s going to be Rubin and Fermin. Him, Harleson and Lue are probably going to dominate the minutes at the 4 though.
