2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Barnes “We are excited to welcome Dai Dai and his family to the Tennessee basketball program. He is an extremely competitive and coachable individual who really gels with our culture. Dai Dai can make shots in late-clock situations, which is a skill we were looking for in the portal. He is a crafty lefty with a strong frame who can finish at the rim through contact, as well as a superb movement shooter and an elite midrange scorer. All of that makes him a great fit for our system. Dai Dai really wants to be part of a winning team and contend for championships.”

I chuckled. I guess some guys who know basketball actually do use that word. Who woulda thunk it? Maybe only HoF coaches are allowed to use it.

I haven’t gotten any info on who our last signee is going to be of the two spots remaining. Staff continues to feel extremely confident in Juke, so I do think we are looking at one left once that domino falls.
Looking at the current roster it’s my educated guess that Barnes will go after another big, but if he can’t get one he wants he may just take the best available option. Never hurts to add more good players.

Also, for the people who say we are gonna be small this year, this is our potential starting lineup:

Hill - 6'3''
Lundblade - 6'5''
Harris - 6'7''
Haralson - 6'7''
Rubin - 6'10''

I'm ok with that.
Just my preference and projecting that Brown is going to make that next level in his game. Also, knowing Coach Barnes values rebounding.

Hill - 6'3''
Harris - 6'7''
Haralson - 6'7''
Brown - 6'8"
Rubin - 6'10''

Lundblade could be top 6th man in the SEC

Only issue I see with that lineup is that it excludes two of our best shooters, which was supposedly our targeted goal in the portal.

If Haralson develops that outside shot, that has me less concerned, but I think more likely he sticks at the 4 until he shows he's a threat from outside, and Ames or Lundblade likely start at the 2.

My uneducated guess/prediction/hope, assuming we pull Juke but nobody else, obviously changes with the final addition:

Hill - 30 MPG - 15 PPG
Lundblade - 25 MPG - 12 PPG
Harris - 30 MPG - 16 PPG
Haralson - 30 MPG - 13 PPG (2/3 at the 4, 1/3 at guard)
Rubin - 25 MPG - 7 PPG
-
Ames - 25 MPG - 12 PPG
Lue - 10 MPG - 3 PPG (playing 4)
Brown - 20 MPG - 6 PPG (playing 4 and 5)
Washington Jr./Scott/Green/Clark - 5 MPG - 1 PPG
-
Henderson (Rehab)
Paull
Duncan

85 PPG, freshmen develop with spot minutes, tight 8 man rotation like Dalton's year, best offense we've seen. What's not to like.

Brown, Haralson, and Rubin probably aren't the best three to play together. The spacing would be bad with them all on the court.

Better to pull some ambiguity out of your pants than use actual words that apply to a sport. The kid isn't Wiley Coyote. I've played, watched and coached a lot of basketball over some decades. I've not heard anyone not connected to a bong call a player "crafty". Up close, Hill is something I'd refer to as "athletic". I'm sorry that won't get him under an Acme electric fence, but the kid can move, handle the ball, get past defenders to the goal and shoot. His has elite lift and a very graceful motion. If you want to roll up some D&D characters, feel free to make one "crafty", or maybe you meant he'd be apt at making a leather belt or an ashtray at camp. My position is that Hill is an athlete. Full stop. F'n A. This place can be an intellectual swamp.

Lay off that bong Rick, and quit playing D&D! Learn something about basketball instead.

Well Houston blows so if Austin’s terrain, weather, traffic and population density is similar to Houston then I’ve got no interest. Only reason I can imagine anyone choosing to move to Houston is for a better job.
Houston is to Austin as Memphis is to Nashville.
I was surprised at the hills in Austin as I assumed Texas was all flat.

Yes, Houston and Austin are two different worlds. In fact, Austin (college city), Houston (large international city), Dallas (a bunch of cowboys) and San Antonio are completely different, even though they are all within 2-4 hour drives from one another.
