2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I think if you land all three then yeah, it would be a stretch to think we would have enough minutes to spread around but I really don’t think Ament comes back and in that case I think there are still plenty of minutes to spread if you added Tanner and Juke. Right now, our bench is really sparse unless you expect all 4 freshmen to be contributors next year. With Juke and Tanner, you’d have a really nice 8-9 man rotation and have some depth with the freshmen if injuries do occur.
With Juke, Tanner, and throwing in Hastings as the backup big we bring in:

Tanner (27.5 MPG)
Hill (25 MPG)
Harris (27.5 MPG)
Haralson (25 MPG)
Rubin (25 MPG)
-
Ames (20 MPG)
Lundblade (20 MPG)
Brown (15 MPG)
Hastings (15 MPG)

Everyone is fresh, nine legitimate options, guard depth is insane. Even without Tanner and Hill as your PG, team is awesome if we get Juke/Hastings. But damn, what a rotation.

Yeah, the numbers work with both Tanner and Juke. It only gets a bit fuzzy if you toss Ament in there but not likely we can afford all three even if he wanted to return. Then again, if Tanner never enters Ament becomes viable. The point mostly being we definitely have room for 2 of those 3.

Agreed on all counts

No way Ament is coming back. We desperately need one or two more bigs. Maybe even a prep guy. The portal bigs remaining are uninspiring unless we somehow get the Arizona St or Cincy guy. The Charlotte guy is commanding 2+ million and he's kind of a stiff. Maybe Rick can work the Balkan connections for a secret Euro.

I mean, if Ament did come back though you wouldn’t necessarily need another big. He’s 6’10” and could play the 4 in some small ball lineups.

People saying ament not coming back for sure , better think again. But I’m not going down that road again

Plus, Nate can block shots, not your prototypical rim protector, but a blocked shot is a blocked shot. He will be a better rebounder and shot blocker, IF he comes back

Maybe it’s because I’m a girl and look at things differently, but it seems to me there’s at least a chance Ament wants to be a college kid a year longer. Not saying that will be his deciding factor, but it just seems like something that could matter to him. He seems “younger” than other kids his age in some ways.

Exactly. Like so many college kids have done before even when they know their draft projection is high

Wonder if there’s a world where TT is waiting to the very end as a gift to Vandy? To allow them to continue to build a “roster” before he leaves? Showing one last strand of loyalty and benefiting them by waiting until the last moment. Even though it will ultimately hurt Vandy with him leaving, they’re signing “decent” players in the meantime. It’d be a jerk thing to do personally to other players who signed but benefit Vandy for the upcoming season. Just a thought; doubt that’s how it’s playing out but popped in my head.
