2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Fun hypothetical for everyone on this topic: 1 spot left and you have an option of our 5th year guys. Do you take Okpara or JG?

I’d honestly lean Felix with our current roster iteration, but you can’t go wrong with either. Curious what everyone’s sentiment will be tho.
I would probably agree with you given what we currently have on the roster.

Lundblade needs to start. The gravity that guy commands is lethal and opens up the entire offense.
There should no helping off Lundblade’s defender. If he is wide open he is making a very high % majority of his 3 pt shots. And he is always in motion and able to shoot on the move quickly with elevation at 6’5.

Hill will start at PG in my opinion with Lundblade. Ames can play either spot. Lundblade will also play some at the 3. Even without Harris in the equation how would others guard a perimeter lineup of Hill, Ames and Lundblade? Each should get 30 minutes per game.

Henderson, Clark and others (maybe Green at 2G) will get playing time on perimeter when we are punishing opponents.

With this group, Felix without question.

As others have said, Felix feels like the easy answer. We have a clear need for another front court player and if Rubin could come off the bench instead of start that would be ideal.

Okpara fits the need better but I don’t care. JG is an elite college basketball player. Give me all the elite talent and figure out how it fits.

Heard some chatter at the baseball game today from a friend of donor who is tight with the Haslams and it goes like - Barnes has a blank check to get whoever he wants because he’s earned it. Juke is in the bag if he doesn’t go pro, which he probably won’t. And we are searching for a big. The Boston College big man was mentioned.

Also said Heupel doesn’t have near the same trust from the donors that Barnes does due to the Nico, Boo Carter, and now Chaz Coleman situations.

Makes sense. Money people like to reinforce success, not throw good money after bad. It's why I think Caldwell is a dead person walking.

She can save herself if all these transfers somehow work out, but the women's game is singularly unique. The talent disparities are so widespread that once you're done, it's extremely difficult to get back up.

If Juke has settled on us, he doesn’t have to make a decision on the NBA before committing, isn’t that right?

Makes sense. Barnes is elite at assessing character and culture fits and the lack of drama we’ve had in the basketball program over his tenure has been incredible.

Just high quality men coming in here and building a legacy that will be remembered forever. Its really an incredible list of names when you think about it.

Vescovi
ZZ
Dalton Knecht
Fulky
Grant Williams
Admiral Schofield
Gillespie
Lanier
Mashak

Just to name a few.

Felix fills a hole we still have. JG would be partially redundant

JG. I think Okpara was great, but I think we can replace him in the portal, for the most part. I think JG would be that last piece of the puzzle to make the final 4.

I would take that Jayden Hastings kid from B.C. While only 6’9 he is a great athlete for 240 lbs. In dunker spot, pick and roll + lob threat. Get him and another big for depth would be great.

We need a bigger presence and Freeman is that. Let’s not go cheap when we have the Tanner money laying around.

I will say that it is ideal to have someone 6'9" or taller, but the most important need might be someone with some weight and strength. We need someone that is an enforcer, that can't be bullied down low. I mean, 240 lbs. is not bad, but that is about the minimum I think we need. So far, we don't have that on the roster, do we?

As talented as Donnie Freeman may be, he is 6'9", 205 lbs. I'm sure he would be a good addition, but I doubt he could fill that role.

Get both, and I'd say we would be fine. At least, we have Brown. Forgot about him. Wish he was a tad taller though.
