You could even argue that the something extra Tanner has is another year of experience. Tanner's freshman numbers at Vandy were actually pretty bad despite playing 20 mpg. He only averaged 5.7 pts, 1.9 assts, and shot 26.6% from 3.

File it under "what could have been", but I wonder what kind of jump a guy like Chandler would have made from FR to SO year had we gotten a chance to see it.

This is what I'm thinking also. The Tennessee medical staff knows JP's medical situation better than anyone else. These schools offering JP all this money without any medical information or the opportunity to make him do a physical prior to signing him is crazy. He had issues with his foot again this year.

This. If I'm a team willing to pay that much, I'd find it mildly alarming if the current team didn't put up much of a fight close to the amount I'm offering.

Losing Estrella would really suck. So much for the idea of “roster continuity” and experience being needed next year after having so many new faces this season.

I know 3-4 million would be a lot, but any replacement for Estrella that has the potential and/or experience he has is almost certainly going to cost the same. Feels like “just pay him” is the right move here, but it Trilly is saying he’s gone, then he’s gone.

I get the injury history concerns our staff has, but I feel like we’ll end up paying $2-$3 million anyway for a worse version of Estrella. Plus, I hate the idea of Dewayne Brown and Jaylen Carey all of a sudden becoming our “veteran” core on the team. Gross.

I'm a little surprised at the attraction to UK with Pope coaching. Jasper Johnson just left and he's from Woodford County which is 20 minutes from Lexington. Brandon Garrison just left, which many UK fans aren’t terribly upset about. Jaland Lowe left. Quaintance is gonna go pro. Oweh and Aberdeen graduate.

They just landed their first 2026 high school commit, Mason Williams, after the hire of his dad, former Bama and NBA guard, Mo Williams.

But does the replacement player come with a similar injury risk? If you could get JP's potential in a guy with less health risk, I'd pay even more for the guy who I believe is less risky.

By all accounts it sounds like we’ve got the money this year to be pretty aggressive and if we decide that the bidding price on JP is too high, then I’ll trust the staff.

The concern is obviously you commit all this money to a guy who may get hurt again. We see these injury albatross players all the time in the NBA. You can’t win with 25% of your cap on the bench.

So I can understand why we might not match a huge number. I wouldn’t wanna risk my season on JP’s foot either. If this is our one big chance, then let’s be smart about it.

I think roster continuity is going the way of the dinosaur. As in extinct.
