2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Is that the PG from Stanford?

I’m making Tanner tell me no and I’d be curious to see who the other targets are at PG.

I’d take Foxwell over him as well.
Yeah he’s the PG. Tanner would probably fit our system a little better, but no way I’m taking Foxwell over him. I love Foxwell, but the guy averaged almost 25 a night. Had 40 against UNC, had 34 last night.

i thought he was for sure league bound

This is a quick transcription of morning conversation. I’m not representing personal projections or analyzing likelihoods. Just sharing before I head into some meetings:

As of this morning every player has an understanding of role and their starting NIL number. Literally every non-walk-on has been given an overview of their role and an offer. It’s an opening move in a chess game. Offers convey priorities. April 7-15 will see substantial activity based on players not known to the public as portal entries currently. The predictions are that there will be better g movement and some great players available. Staff likes our guard lineup to bottom more than I would’ve expected. Current players with more sophisticated representation will probably make decisions more quickly than players riding the train. A game changer at 4/5 another scorer at 2/3 and an experienced pg are all in the consideration set since who leaves stays can change.

When you say “staff likes our guard lineup more than I would’ve expected” does that mean the target list or are you talking about the guards on the roster?

I still think he’s a really good player. Definitely think he has a solid chance at being a lottery pick next year.

He reminds me a lot of Damian Lillard.

My only preference for Foxwell is that he will be a multi year guy, where as with Okorie, you may just get one season.

Bishop Boswell (will take a minutes cut with Lundblade commited) is now a flight risk along with JP Estrella (Uconn, Kansas, Florida, and others are willing to overspend). Tennessee is willing to counter to keep JP but won't overpay for Boswell.

Jalen Carey will have to take a pay cut and lose around 30 pounds if he wants to return.

Amari Evans is still hearing from Villanova and Gonzaga but its not 100% that he is leaving.

I will post before things happen or change.

He’s at it again lmao idk how anyone believes this

Reading tea leaves, maybe staff would like to keep all of Bishop, Evans, Burg, and Henderson on roster. Obviously team needs a starting PG still, but don't know if that bodes well for bringing in another star guard like a Rice. Obviously actual transfers change everything.

How much are we actually able to spend on next year’s roster? Do Adidas and other legitimate NIL deals help us overcome the revenue distribution limit?

We really need to answer these two questions before we set expectations for who we bring in and who we retain.

That’s fair. I agree having a multi-year guy would be ideal.

Burg and Henderson need to go honestly. Not even close to enough scoring if those 4 all return

guards on roster. they'll augment, but there is some growing enthusiasm around development over the season.

Oof. I mean I like Evans’ potential but if we don’t bring in 2-3 studs, it’s a swing and a miss, IMO. I do not want to go into next year needing Boswell and Evans to average 10-12 PPG for us to make a Final Four.

Hypothetically, betwee Burg, Boswell, or Henderson - which would you prefer as a backup PG next season?
If I had to let one of those three go, it would be Henderson. The other two are more equipped to play a role right now. I think it will take another year for Henderson to really carve out a role.

Probably means staff likes Burg and Massamba as being dependable back ups. Losing Ament and Gillespie leave huge glaring offensive needs that neither Evans nor Boswell would be expected to make that type of massive offensive jump.

Yea, I won’t fall into that trap…those are good players and can play a role, but the bulk of what’s here are guys that would/should be 5-9 on a good team, we still need 1-4 to be a serious contender.

Yeah. I wonder if that’s a pivot as the market is getting set.
