2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Wow, would be massive to keep both of those add lundblade and add 1-2 offensive players.

I would say it’s a longshot right now, but I’m sure there will be plenty of lawyers across the country working to get an extra year for current seniors based on this EO.

Just posted it in another thread, but since it could have impact on our portal targets, Trump is releasing an Executive Order on College Sports that would turn eligibility into 5 years to play 5. Obviously, there will be a ton of lawsuits and billable hours racked up over whether he has the authority to do that but that could crack the window for a Gillespie and Okpara return if the stars align.

While that sounds good for our situation, I don't like that idea of that and meddling. My perspective may change over time, but I feel like college sports is already a challenging environment as is.

If they are expecting to get a "gamechanging 4/5" then he doesn't really have a path to the court so it makes sense with that update
I'd still think there is a path for split time with that 4/5 addition, though. Ideally, he'd have split time with Okpara had he not gotten hurt this year.

I think schools that want to use it will use it. Probably won't hold up long term but maybe for one season super team?

I have a hard time with it to be honest. Do you stop recruiting portal and hope the rule gets passed or do you tell Gillespie / Okpara to move on and keep recruiting portal guys.

Seems like a tough job to juggle.

Stuff like this just keeps ruining college sports.

It’s titled “Thomas Dowd Troy Highlights” I believe.

It’s on YouTube. 12 days ago.

I stopped at 45 seconds and I saw 2 threes, I think?

Maybe a mix between Cade and Igor?
This is the only one I see with that title, and its the one I referenced. Only 1 dunk. Several finesse layups, pump fakes, and a bunch of 3s.

Sounds like the Joey A situation?

Yup, insanely chaotic thing to drop days before the portal opens. Teams essentially had their plans probably made up where they are going for long time and now this drops.

Tough to see Cade go, but the reality is if the team is going to level up he probably wouldn't have been a difference maker. I would've been fine if he played a backup role because of his defensive versatility, but now we have the chance to get as good of a defender with an offensive upgrade as a replacement. Won't be mad at all if they upgrade here.
