Rioux is in the portal now. I doubt we have any interest in him., but in the very limited amount I watched him, I was surprised that he wasn't just a big stiff. Looked like he actually had some fluidity and game.
Yup…my strategy would be something like 8-9 high paid top end guys, then 4-5 cheaper end HS kids, 2 walk on’s that are only taking a scholarship, no money. Each year I’m evaluating those HS guys and deciding whether to cut bait with them in lieu of the 4-5 incoming HS kids, or has 1 shown something to now elevate into that top 8-9 and so he gets paid.This. Your last 4-5 guys are gonna be guys with upside and cheap "salaries". Rev share and NIL essentially ended the idea of being able to have 13 (now 15) studs.
I’ve already told you Paul & Duncan aren’t getting anything beside a scholarshipDon’t be a passive aggressive ahole. I also never said we’d pay anyone anything to be 14/15 guys.
They’ll be on scholarship now moving forward and being paid something, even if just a tiny slice of the pie. Whether it’s Paull & Duncan or some portal additions from elsewhere.

Don’t care absolute sniper Rick can scheme around defensively. A kid like this helps with those 5-6 minute scoring droughts that have plagued us.Lundblade is the worst rated defender on Belmont’s team who was 155 in defensive efficiency this year on Kenpom.
Lanier was a stud defender compared to this kid. He’s got no athleticism at all. He averaged 0.3 steals per game in 34 minutes. That is unbelievably terrible.
I’ll be surprised if is still even in the rotation for Barnes come SEC play. I could not be more disappointed with this roster management early in this portal cycle if we are truly offering $2 million.
You are a flat out liar. I called Lanier being a stud (that one was easy), but also called Igor being underrated and a huge piece. Said multiple times he was a way better pickup than Dubar. I called Dubar being a non factor. Also called the Anderson kid being below this level who everyone on here wanted including you. I could go on..I did read them all, you were 50% at best. Also, you still owe me from the bet, or you’re just glossing over that part?
Right, you said before they would get rev share too, on top of scholarship, that’s not the case. Like I said most kids you’re talking about from a talent level, like a Jahvon Carter, are gonna get a scholarship everywhere, it then becomes NIL & Rev share. Most kids aren’t going to take a $0 in that department just to play for UT when they’ll likely fetch close to 6 figures annually at a smaller school, then you add in the fact that they’ll also play for said smaller school and they’ll again fetch an even bigger dollar amount in the portal at that point. And a scholarship is worth 5 figures each year. That's still something instead of nothing. There are no longer "free" roster spots even if the only thing being given is a full ride scholarship.... (strange times that now that's considered a bare minimum).
I think the path forward is you use revenue sharing/NIL as incentives for those last 11-15 spots on the roster. I do agree the bulk of the budget from NIL & revenue sharing should be going to the 8-10 spots let me make that clear.
Don’t forget Will Richard who was a huge part of Florida’s successLets just make Belmont our minor league feeder team...
Malik Dia transferred from there to Ole Miss and was a 12/6 guy over his 2 years there
Cade Tyson transferred from there UNC then Minnesota and was a 19/5 guy that shot 42.2% from deep
Ja'Kobi transferred from there to Mayrland then Vols and was a 18 ppg, 5 apg, 2 spg guy here shooting 34% from deep
Casey Alexander finds & develops some damn ballers is the point.
lol okYou are a flat out liar. I called Lanier being a stud (that one was easy), but also called Igor being underrated and a huge piece. Said multiple times he was a way better pickup than Dubar. Also, I went back and read the posts and I made that comment about the bet with the assumption Cade Tyson was going to be in the lineup. The point I was making in that discussion was that you can’t have two below average defenders on the floor. Also, I didn’t see where we actually agreed on an amount.

I get what you’re suggesting and asking for, I just don’t think it’s reality in today’s game…it doesn’t make sense for the school to use money on them and it doesn’t make sense for the kid to sit on the bench and not showcase himself to be able to then utilize the portal. I’ve yet to see any legit schools adding legitimate recruited kids to fill 15 spots, in fact I bet if I dig I could find more examples of them not filling 15 just so they can use more funds to 1-14 or 1-13.
