Nah, we gotta keep JP. 6'11 and can move well for a tall guy. He averaged 10pts this year and if he is able to slighlty imprive on his finishing he could be John Fulkerson 2.0 by his Sr year. Letting him go now before he potentially blows up would be a mistake. Also, he is a great locker room guy.Love the thought, but until Estrella proves me wrong, I wouldn't put eggs in his basket. Once again...injury prone is injury prone. I think we need to go in a new direction.
I never said there wasn't room for both. The % is very misleading as he doesn't shoot when wide open so it doesn't actually provide any spacing. He shot 32% from 3 in SEC play on 14 makes in 20 games. Evans had a learning curve coming from the OTE, but it began to click for him in the backhalf of conference play. Boswell was/is an effort defender and Evans can be just as good on that end while offering a practical offensive skillset that includes attacking the basket. Ideally, they are both back and platoon at the 3, but the point was that the staff does not just need to reach a certain quota of returning talent to hit that number and secondly, Amari Evans is the better overall investment for the program to make if it comes down to that imoKeeping Boswell as a 3rd or 4th option at guard would be huge imo. Culture setter. 38.5% from 3 and seemed to step up offensively in big moments all year. His defense on momcilovic was a big reason we went to elite 8. Burg, Boswell, and Evans combined for 62 minutes in the sweet 16. There’s room for both Evans and Boswell on the roster next year
