2026 Target List

On the surface landing Sadler would be arguably one of the biggest gets we’ve ever had imo…a Top 25 talent that is likely a 4/5 year guy I would assume, as proven with Chandler if you’re under 6’ no matter how good you are the NBA just isn’t that interested. Given today’s NIL numbers it’s very plausible someone who’s a 2nd rounder/G League type would rather do their full college eligibility rather move on early to the NBA.

That would be nice. Who knows though in today’s day and age, plenty of chance for him to transfer elsewhere without going to NBA, particularly if Barnes doesn’t go another five years

For sure, but that’s why I said on the surface…of course maybe he likes the new hire or maybe an assistant is promoted, getting him here is a lot better than not and then trying to land him down the line.

Hard to get too excited about high school recruiting anymore. Few freshman are really ready to contribute at this level and so many transfer, the idea of developing your roster over time has been replaced by robbing the mid majors of their best players and starting over from year to year.

You’ve got go do both still imo, roster limits increasing probably help the idea of landing and keeping high school kids also. Landing high school kids is also much cheaper than adding through the portal, and retaining a kid is also typically cheaper than adding through the portal.

Jamie Shaw mentioned Miles Sadler and Tennessee in his PG article today.

The 5-foot-10 point guard followed that up by leading his Scottsdale (AZ) CIA Bella Vista Prep team in scoring (16.1) and assists (4.7) en route to a second-place finish on Nike’s EYBL Scholastic Circuit.

With those types of consistent performances, Sadler jumped to No. 18 overall in On3’s 2026 recruiting cycle. The top-20 player recently scheduled his first official visit when he will be going to Tennessee on August 29. One source close to the recruitment told me they think Tennessee is carrying some momentum as Sadler starts to set his visit dates. Arizona State, Mississippi State, and Stanford are some of the other programs that have offered. Continue to watch which visits he sets.

We would have let him reclassify also? Makes no sense to me?

Would we? This might be a win-win for both sides.

With my tinfoil cap on, I'd hazard a guess this will be used by some programs going forward. Lets say a school likes a recruit but doesnt have space or need at the moment. Maybe you encourage them to take that route (or family/agent/handler/whoever)

You run the risk of someone falling in love with a school, of course. But you can be decently confident they won't get good minutes, have some baseline loyalty to you as a coach/school, and they get college-grade training for a year. Then transfer in way more prepped than your average high schooler.

Idk makes sense to me but its a bit of a gamble (of note, I have paid zero attention to his recruitment until this moment, im just speaking I'm generalities)
