Manny, Clarence, Bubba and Butch… give me all of em, if they have game CRB wants. I’ve personally never met or been around a bad one.

Man, it’s just so hard to tell with highlights. He’s big and can finish. Can he create a shot for himself? Is he quick enough, and have the quick hops, to guard even his position without fouling other good ones?

I do like UT going after Purdue big man wants. Just not enough for me here to warrant an offer with a solid and growing front court room. Jmo

I saw enough to realize he can; run the floor, rebound in a crowd, shoot the 3 ball, has a good handle, and pass the ball with accuracy, I did not see much of his defense, but I would take him in a New York minute

In that video or another one?

Shot 45% from 3 this season, broke Gillespie’s career scoring record in just 3 years
That sounds great. Admittedly most of my skepticism is wondering why a kid with that size and promise is still unranked on 247 and not higher on3.(Greenville, TN or not)
Not come at anybody, just my first thought on a 34 and 45 second highlight video.

Same here, he's a very smooth & savvy athlete who can score on anyone, but Purdue appears to be the frontrunner as they have really prioritized him. Thompson averaged 24.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for Greeneville last season, hitting 61% of his shots from the field (72% 2FG, 45% 3FG) and 81% from the FT stripe. He's excelling with the Tennessee Impact this spring.

From a recent On3 piece talking about Purdue, whose head coach has made at least 4 trips to TN to meet with Thompson:
“Coach [Matt] Painter thinks I’m a walking mismatch,” Thompson said. “He likes the shooting ability and the rebounding ability, like a Trey Kaufman-Renn but I can space the floor, too. (Painter’s) a great guy and I love picking at him for being a Cubs fan and Coach Lusk is a great man, too. I’ve heard he likes to go fishing. Coach Thompson’s a great guy, too. All great people there. Purdue always loves guys who play fundamental basketball. I’m not the greatest athlete on the court, but I think I can beat you with IQ and knowing what to do with the ball.”

Scouting report by Brian Neubert, Black & Gold Illustrated:

Thompson isn’t the biggest forward out there — having trimmed down from around 230 pounds last summer — but he is immensely skilled as a spot-up three-point shooter, ball-handler and passer, a point forward type who’ll be best suited for the 4 but capable of playing like a wing. He possesses distinct bounce, allowing him to really get off the floor and finish above the rim, and a quick enough first step to drive past bigger people facing the basket. He uses his body and long strides well to carve out space for himself once past his defender.

He is capable of handling the ball well enough in the open floor to lead breaks and equipped well to fill the wing in transition to get catch-and-shoot threes or penetration opportunities. His guard skills offensively combined with his plus athleticism define him, but everything about his game is amplified by his distinct energy and tenacity. Thompson gives great effort, throws his body around, moves with purpose and is clearly a productive teammate, perpetually talking, pointing, clapping, etc.

He just debuted on On3, guessing that ranking continues to climb, and guess he’ll debut on 247 next update
