2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

i understand concerns about players going to visit other schools after giving verbal commitments
but why not live it up, get the red carpet treatment and see what others have to offer

even if a player has no intention on flipping their commitment
it shows good character to keep your word with schools you agreed to visit

but more importantly, in the era of the transfer portal, if things don't workout with your school of choice
having some familiarity with other programs due to a prior visit helps tremendously

I would assume, when the portal opens, we will prioritize athletes with which we had a previous and continuing relationship. It works both ways.

In general, I don't feel as confident in the NIL age when recruits in any sport go to other schools after their verbal. I am fine with them doing this, but the whole approach for the schools that are being visited is to flip them. For some, what better way to flip them is to learn what was offered from the school they committed to and offer more if possible. I am not particularly worried in the case of Edwards, but overall, I think it adds to an element uncertainty till the commitment is a signed one. I hope we get a bevy of signatures!!

compatibility with players, with coaching, reputation of coach, style of play, expectations for minutes on floor, potential for Final Four, major offered, college environment, parents' preferences,
NIL offered inside, potential of outside NIL

I doubt that unless the money offered is one or more standard deviations from the averages of other schools , I wouldn't expect that the NIL will be the priority decision.

football players receiving hundreds of thousands are definitely flipping when the bids are increased.

The truth is Oliviyah Edwards emphatic commitment announcement on campus in Knoxville with Candace Parker and Peyton Manning in attendance for College Gameday has completely changed high school and future transfer portal recruiting dynamics across all WBB.
Tennessee once again following the legendary career of the late Coach Pat Summitt legacy has moved into the top 1-5 places of most desired destinations for elite talent in WBB.
I think the remaining uncommitted players have had to take a step back and really process how to determine the best decision for their future now that Tennessee heading into the current season and future is now one of 1-5 true national championship contenders.
The Lady Vols following a historical 2025 recruting cycle with two #1 classes by way of high school and transfer portal has resurge into prominence as the most historic WBB of all-time.

Abii and Jones liked it, even seen Lauren Hassell say she loved it! I think we’re getting those 3, Abii, Jones and Critt, no insider information, just a feeling in the air! We’re SO back!
I definitely feel Critt and Jones! Im 50/50 on Abii? I've heard TCU is making a big push for her!?

Definitely off topic here, but how often to the Lady Vols get new unis. I see other teams get new unis every 1-2 years and we keep the same one for yearsssssss before changing.

One might also view it as a sign of good character if a player chooses not to waste the recruiting resources of other programs once they've made a firm decision. "Living it up" on somebody else's dime when you are so sure that entity is NOT the one for you that you already committed to another, seems kinda selfish to me. The money those also-rans spent trying to impress a girl who'd already rejected them could have been spent more wisely on a future player who may have actually been interested. Or on some kind of team activity, etc.
